Anyone know about this site CashClaim dot com? Somehow my |
|
mother got there and found about 10K in various amounts for different people in the family. But she needs to pay for the service to get the stuff(?).
I would understand this could maybe be a legitimate business. They mention leaving electric company deposits when you move and not collecting them and other little ways you could have money left in various places. I know this happens because I rented to a man who died and I was forever sending his daughter information and checks from some financial institution and NOW THAT I HAVE LOST HER ADDRESS the company STILL sends me checks for the guy. I have just quit responding and I figure the money will go into a fund or hopefully she will find some information in his things someday and contact them. I think what no one realized is these checks were going to keep coming because no one closed out the account which keeps making money for him, (about $500 every 5 years so I can understand how his family and myself did not realize that this account needed to be closed or the information needed to be changed so that the daughter would get the interest checks. It is not a ton of money but it will add up.)
I have checked those free sites and found nothing for any members of my family so I wonder why this site claims to know about money that the other sites can't find.

1. Go directly to the state where the money is |
|
most states have online databases of unclaimed funds. you should be able to claim the money without a commission directly from the state agency in charge. my folks got a couple of thousand from Louisiana (there was an old savings account of my grandfather's that no one knew about) after they learned about the money through an intermediary website.
