Blade Wars: Gillette vs. Schick/Wilkinson |
|
Shopping for new shaving blades at CVS the other night was complicated by the one-upmanship between Gillette and Schick/Wilkinson:
1) The Gillette Sensor: twin blades with spring-loaded action
2) The Gillette Sensor Excel: twin blades with micro-fins
3) The Gillette Mach3: THREE blades!
(Schick's falling behind, so they unveil the...)
4) The Schick XTreme3: three FLEXIBLE blades!
5) The Gillette Mach3 Turbo: three blades, TEN micro-fins, improved lubrication!
(Schick fights back with the...)
6) Quattro: FOUR blades!
(Gillette retaliates with the...)
7) the Gillette MP3 Power: battery-powered three blades!
8) the Schick Quattro Power: four battery-powered blades!
(Gillette throws down the gauntlet...)
9) the Gillette Fusion: freaking Five blades!!!!
(Before Schick can beat it to the punch...)
10) the Gillette Fusion Power: battery-powered five blades!!!!
I can't wait for the 10-blade, battery-powered, 20 microfin, improved lubricating strip, aerodynamically-designed razor!!

1. I buy whatever's cheapest, despite their buying of the draft registry |
|
I still buy whatever's cheapest or on sale, but when I turned 18 and registered for the draft (what's that called again?), for a few years I got free samples from various shaving-product companies. Some of them were actually pretty good, just not enough to pay that much for.

2. Thankfully, I can't grow a beard for nothin'. |
|
But I still have some black hairs on my chin that need to be done away with once a month.
And for that, it's Gillette all the way! There really is no closer or smoother shave than the Mach3.

3. I settled for the Mach3 Turbo |
|
The razors themselves with an intro pack of blades aren't that much; it's the replacement blades that cost a fortune.

thats what I have. I can't deal with single/dual bladed razors, I mess my face up pretty bad with those. The Gillete 3 bladed Mach(whatever its called) works great for me...I'm still clueless as to why, razors need batteries, whats the story on that?

6. Supposedly, the battery-powered razors |
|
sends "pulses" which (according to Gillette) "M3Power raises hair up and away from the skin!"
Schick/Wilkinson Sword sued Gillette over the way this was phrased (because Wilkinson Sword's battery-powered razor said something like that first), so now Gillette advertises the Mach3 Power as "The best-selling razor in America!"
