The Golden Seed
Fiction by 180 @ thenecessarylanguage.com Spring 2006

In the deep forest I select a great oak tree to sit beneath to rest me well from my morning's journey. By my side I lay down my bow and quiver of arrows. From my food pouch I remove my foodes of breads and cheese. From my leather bags of water and wine I drink deeply and freely. Having eaten and consumed my fill of wine and water a sudden tiredness overcomes me and resting my back and head against the great oak tree I fall into a deep sleep.

In my dream I am startled awake by the gentle voice of a maiden singing. The small clearing in front of me is brightly lighted by the afternoon sun. Standing silent and proud there in the lighted clearing is a black and golden Unicorn. His Mane and other long hairs on his body are golden. The rest of him is black as are mysteries.

Now he snorts and raises his head about as Unicorns do and he trots proudly about the clearing. It is then I notice the Golden Hair Maiden standing in shadow at the clearing's edge. She too is watching the Unicorn. It is her singing that awakens me.

Come to me oh come to me
You Black and Golden Unicorn
I have many things for you
Soft
And
Warm
And
Sweet.

3. I understand.
I appreciate the kind thought and hope yours are, too.
My spark lately has been the daughter-size mermaid she painted in her closet when she was 8.
Just wondering what my daughter was imagining while she painted brings a smile to my face.

7. Access
thenecessarylanguage.com via my journal.

The rest of the story might not get past the moderators even though it is not graphic.

While you are in thenecessarylanguage.com read those excellent writing efforts of some of your other fellow duers.

All writings there are by duers.

Try to guess who they are too.

Come to think of it I have several works by one Mr. Skip Fox a DUer.

I am a self published egotist.

I have several things of no real worth (and no compensation) in several Military Association News Letters. Also one co-authored in an obscure Scientific Publication (Man Water Pressure).
