My professor just asked me to be a student assistant... |
|
:woohoo:
My university requires anyone with $1400 or more in scholarships per year to work 75 hours on campus per semester. The job I got (in desperation) last fall wouldn't allow me to go home until the end of the semester, because I have to work weekends. Plus, it requires that I walk around campus by myself in the dark (5-10PM) on Friday nights, which I'm not really comfortable with for safety reasons. So I got an application for another place. We needed faculty references, so I e-mailed one of my old professors to ask to use her. She said she was starting a new research project and wanted to know if I would be interested in working for her instead.
This weekend is off to a pretty good start. :D

I hope you don't have to walk around campus in the dark, alone, anymore. That certainly does *not* sound like it's safe!

No, it doesn't sound safe. Besides, we're basically doing the job that the "overworked" campus cops are supposed to be doing (locking and unlocking classrooms and buildings for people who need to get in). Never mind that the only times I've seen said cops are when they're sitting outside DPS smoking. :hi:

Thanks for clarifying that, too, by the way. Otherwise, I would have worried! :hi:
