Nobody did Poe as well as Vincent Price.
I LOVE his old horror flicks- I just came across a collection of them, and have been happily engrossed in them all evening. The man had a real understanding of ol' Edgar Allen, and he used it well.

Next up: The Pit And The Pendulum.

Too cool!

4. Vincent Price was perfect in the Poe roles.
Damn, he could scare me and fascinate me at the same time!

7. Price *NEVER* turned down work.
I just learned this. The reason he was in some productions of questionable merit is because he was superstitious (as many actors are) about turning down work.

He didn't charge an exhorbitant fee, either, so he is in many shows which otherwise couldn't afford his level of star-power.

I remember him in segments from a regional Canadian kids show called "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein", which appeared to have a production budget of about $8 per episode.

11. Masque of the Red Death was mediocre at best.
The acting was ok, but the story sucked.
