3. Yes, I don't remember much, though, because it was many years ago. |

It was on a cruise that went to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Can't say about the food because we ate all meals aboard ship.

Especially if you know where to go.
It's a big island, and you can find inexpensive lodgings and food there. Certainly much less expensive than most other places in the Caribbean. Plus, San Juan is probably the most accessible airport in the Caribbean.
Another great place where you can travel inexpensively is the Dominican Republic.

5. The better San Juan restaurants can run you $40 |
|
for a drink and entree. I like the smoked chicken ($14) and whole fried snapper ($22) at the Metropol restaurant. I stay at the Hampton Inn and suites in san juan. $130/night off-season to $200/night on-season. Waterfront restaurants in San Juan are the most expensive and it gets cheaper as you get away from San Juan.
Holiday INN behind the Hampton Inn is about $20/night cheaper than Hampton.
If you go to west coast (Aguadilla, Rincon) you can get a good room for about $70-$90/night on-season. enjoy.
