I love the movie "Whalerider" |
|
I love those quiet little movies that pack a wallop.
I still cry at the very, very end of it...

2. Have you seen "Rabbit-Proof Fence?" |
|
Extraordinary film. I can watch it a million times.
I haven't seen "Whalerider" yet, although I always mean to.
I must, must, must make time for it!

Particularly the information that scrolled at the end about what happened to the girls.

Whalerider is also great because it's a look at Maori culture...

3. You'd have to be a republican, Icelandic or Norwegian not to like it. |

I was trying to remember the name of this movie so hard and couldn't do it...my family was having (another) cookout and I kept asking everyone, believe or not, not one person in that room had seen this movie...I kept saying it's whale-something or other, like "Whale Caller". My Dad chimed in with "Whale Whisperer" but of course that wasn't right.
It's just stunning and I love it. Exactly how I felt growing up as a girl, except I never got to be the tribal leader, lol.

I'm always a weeping mess at the end. I kind of stumbled onto it by accident and boy, it's one of my favorites.
