I really miss my kids now that they are back in School...
Isn't that weird? I know I should enjoy the quiet mornings after I come home from dropping off my son... but I enjoy quiet mornings better when they are spent snuggling on the couch with my son and "Crash Bandicoot"... My daughter really only has one more summer "with" us and it's hard to believe.

This summer went bay way too fast anyway...don't you think? :hi:

Have a great day DU!

17. I wish we could move
My wife and I hate this town but I committed to take care of my mother and built her a small house on my property. She doesn't want to move anywhere so we're stuck.

A DaveTheWave promise and commitment is something you can count on.

18. You sound very much like my husband, DTW.
He had a promising job offer in Seattle a while back, but decided not to take it because he promised his mom he would never leave the state.... Sigh...

But, on the plus side, we're always told to judge a man's kindness by the way he treats his mother, right? ;)

19. "by the way he treats his mother, right?"
We had to treat her like one of our kids when they were younger as far as letting us know if she's gone and will be home later than expected. We worry too much when somebody isn't home on time and one night that wild and crazy old woman stayed out till 11:30pm after church got out at 9:00pm. This was when she was new to town and living in our house before we built hers. We bought her a cell phone and told her to call us if she was going to be late from now on LOL!

I don't think it's weird and i empathize because i am experiencing it myself. They grow up so fast, it seems.

I miss hanging out with Dylan and look forward to him coming home everyday.

27. Well, them going back to school
just brings the day that they will leave our house that much closer.

9 more years for our oldest and our youngest just started kindergarten.
I know it's a looong way off, but somehow the start of school makes me think of them gone.
Heck, I miss them if I don't see them for a few hours...sigh.
I tell them all the time that I sure am glad they came to live with us.
And I dread the day they move out...man, I love them little boogers.

35. Yup, the summer went by fast, but I'm glad the kids are back in school
my son was actually complaining about how BORED he was and my daughter wanted to see all her friends again.

They were ready and so was I. I enjoy this time of year, but we're still definitely in the "adjustment phase". Ours just started on 8/31.

36. Hi Shine!
Good to see you! MI state law now states that public schools must wait until after labor day to start school. Have to protect vacation $$$. :D My daughter started on the 30th though. :hi:

38. You're lucky cuz our schools make 'em start BEFORE Labor Day.
It's a relatively new change, only about 4 or 5 yrs old. Tres annoying. Plus, get this, they started this year on what is usually their weekly half-day, on a Thursday. So, first day of school, a half-day. Then they went back for a full day on Friday, then it was a three day holiday w/e. How lame is that??! Nobody is thrilled about it, except possibly the teachers who like to "ease" the kids into the school year. Whatever. :eyes:

It's definitely a hassle for us b/c we take an annual camping trip down to Big Sur every Labor Day w/e with three other families and we all have to wait til the kids get out on Friday aft before we can go. So, instead of getting down there earlier, we get down with just enough time to set up the tent before it gets dark. As they get older, we can't really pull 'em outa school early anymore, esp during those very important first couple o' days.

All in all, though, I shouldn't complain. I'm just glad they're back in school and healthy!! LOL.

:hi: Good to see you, too, friend! :pals:

That's why they changed it here. My daughter went to school Wednesday for a half day, Thursday for a full day, and then had Friday and Monday off.

I had to do quick shopping to get her ready in time.
