Why would a candy bar that has peanuts in it not advertise it? |
|
I was looking for a small, but healthy, afternoon snack for my sometimes long work days, but also something tasty.
I saw an on sale product called “Zone Perfect” bars – all natural, balanced nutrition, and they came in a flavor called “Chocolate Caramel Cluster.” Seemed perfect, and I bought a box of 5, and I like chocolate and caramel.
I pulled one out yesterday around 2:30 or 3:00 for my snack and I bit into the bar & it tasted of peanut. I thought I was imagining something & took another bite and it was definitely peanut. Hmm, the box has no pictures or mention of peanut on it – until you read the fine print on the ingredients. And, the individual wrapper does have a picture of a peanut on it, despite being labeled “Chocolate Caramel Cluster.”
First - what if I was allergic to peanuts? I am not, but if I made that mistake, I am sure somebody else could make it as well.
Second – peanut is a pretty strong taste. Yet, it is not advertised on the box at all. I personally like the taste of chocolate, and I like the taste of peanuts & peanut butter… but, I despise peanuts & chocolate together.

When I hear the word "cluster" I think back to the Monty Python "Crunchy Frog" skit and the Cockroach Cluster.

the ingredient label before you buy. I never assume anything since I have been burned many times when I did. Now I read everything before I buy. Peanuts don't bother me but some other ingredients do and it isn't always obvious just from the name of the product or the general description.
