Why Is Brittany Spears Famous? And worth millions?
Does anyone really know?

Was she a good performer in her day? I never saw her perform. She used to be pretty. But when I heard her talk she sounded not very bright.

1. Uh, she has a nice rack
Sorry to be harsh but I think that was the major part of her appeal

15. That is pretty funny. But she was a really cute little kid.
Kind of morphed into a porno type star.

2. She had good management
She can sing and dance. I don't understand why people hate her so much, she is just an entertainer like millions of other people. I'm not a fan, but she doesn't affect my life like it seems to affect other's.

3. She's not too bright
she doesn't sing well (IMO), I think she does put on a decent concert, costume changes, special effects, etc.

She had a really good PR person

I personally used to enjoy watching her perform, before she got so white trash.

9. I think she was always white trash.
One can only suppress white trash leanings for so long. I, too, am from LA, so I know of which I speak. The WT side of me (no, I didn't mean to say ME, I'm talking hypothetically, really!) seems to creep out when least expected. I must go now, as there is a Nehi and a bag of pork rinds calling my name.

5. She used to look really good in a schoolgirl uniform
It's a very lucrative skill

6. Wasn't she a little young?
I remember that a whole lot of parents were upset with her - for wearing really trashy clothes. Little girls wanted to look just like her.

I don't have anything against her. But she is always in the supermarket rags and I just wondered why.

I did see where she she made something like 29 million one year - and this year she is down to a measly 4 mil. Must be tough.

8. I wouldn't know. I'm not into young big boobed girls in school
uniforms.

I'm kind of more into big, tatooed biker dudes. Well, from a distance, at least. Most of them are really not very nice people when you get to know them.

12. I never got it, really.
I think she's always been pretty average looking (albeit very athletic), not especially talented vocally, and yeah, kinda' dumb. Of course, I'm not male, or a twelve year old girl, so...

13. My dad asked me the same thing about Dylan back in the stone age.
It's the present culture...vapid, shallow in selective denial. She's like a shiny thing, dangling in front of the eyes of an infant.

21. Pink subverted from within
She came in as a Britney clone, but quickly became the Pink we know today as soon as she was "in."

20. She was the first "Barbie Girl Superstar Playset"
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 01:32 PM by Taverner
And surprisingly, she was the first to be this - a completely manufactured, focus-group tested, studio enhanced princess of pop royalty.

The Spice Girls kind of laid the way for this, but there were 4 (or 5?) of them and only one Britney.

Don't get me wrong, her stuff is crap and I have no love for her.
