Seriously though, everyone says the Next Generation was so good, but how recently have you all watched one? A lot of those shows, especially the early seasons were fucking excruciating!

15. Even though I prefer TNG or DS9 I voted for TOS

Just because that if it wasn't for Kirk, Spock, Bones, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura and Scotty we wouldn't have these other options up to vote for. Let alone all the other Sci Fi series I love to watch on a regular basis :)

16. DS9

The pinnacle of great writing in the franchise. All the characters were well developed and portrayed by excellent actors. I lived Trek in the 90's. Enterprise, Insurrection, and Nemesis were all disappointments and turned me off from it. Occasionally I'll see TNG and DS9 on Spike TV and fondly remember when Trek was king of UPN.

17. The Original and TNG are both Excellent and even certain....

..episodes of the others are quite good.

18. Next Gen, then original, then back a ways to DS9.

Next Gen takes it for longevity, much better SFX, and utter coolness of Capt. Picard. (Intriguingly, many veteran Trekkers took a while to warm up to Next Gen, largely because they had trouble accepting Picard as "their captain"!)

After DS9, a frighteningly steep dropoff. Roddenberry's vision really was central to the whole Trek concept.
