Eraserhead -- should I watch it tonight?
I thought I must have seen it but now I'm not sure, and I just acquired a copy.

Should I watch it or will it just ruin my evening? I hear so many disturbing comments about it.

1. It's one of the greatest films ever made
But it's also a film you have to have your complete attention on, so I'd weigh that in, too....

The scene where Henry meets Mary's Parents is the greatest film scene of all-time...

2. Just one bit of advice
Do NOT watch it while chemically enhanced.

5. well...
i'm not sure i'd offer that advice, it almost cries out for enhancement depending very much on the viewer

many "film goers" let us be honest -- they don't know anything about what it's like to be henry or what it's like to have a spotty baby or anything else of that grotty reality -- for them it's a ride on a ferris wheel and any enhancement is part of the fun

for others from a different background, well, that's another story and agreed -- no additional intensity is needed or wanted

4. if you'd seen it you'd know
it prob. depends on your background and family history how disturbing you will find it, i found it very and did not come back and watch the ending for 20 years, but i think for many people it's just an enjoyable night's outing into weirdness

6. Okay, I went to that movie on a date.
Her choice.

Things only got weirder after that, a lot weirder.

It's one of those strange landmarks in my young adulthood that I don't like to think about too much.

9. It's a disturbing film
I suppose some people can enjoy it once they're familiar with its quirks, but the first viewing is roughly akin to being bludgeoned with a rubber chicken. I'd read a cliff notes summary of the plot before hand. It's very confusing. The scene where the neighbor lady goes into the water just blew my mind. And ya, the scene with her parents is great. If your jaw hasn't hit the floor by then, you're not going to get into it.

10. Well I got through about half of it
It's pure David Lynch, that's for sure.

I can't wait to read the cliff notes and figure out what other people think it all means. Although, part of me is convinced that Lynch is just a pscyho nut and that there's no meaning. Another part of me thinks he's from another planet.

I couldn't help thinking of the scene in Men in Black where the alien baby is delivered by Will Smith.
