Scholastic's Chairman has issued another statement re THE PATH TO 9/11
Dear Teacher of Social Studies, grades 9-12

Scholastic continues to stand behind The Path to 9/11 as an important educational tool.

By providing students with a colorful version of the events which preceded the attacks of September 11, 2001, they will have an opportunity to exercise the very freedoms which were targeted on that fateful day.

In presenting alternate viewpoints in a historical context, ABC Entertainment is permitting the future of America to choose which version of history will be taught to and by future generations.

As a means to this end, Scholastic, breaking with tradition, will not be providing answers to objective questions prompted by any educational materials distributed in this regard.

We are sensitive to the implications of this decision, as we have received extensive correspondence in opposition. Regrettably, some have gone as far as to liken out approach to those preferred by the likes of Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler. And while Scholastic is very troubled by these comparisons, we also recognize that great things can be achieved by adopting their tactics.

Richard Robinson
Chairman, President and CEO
Scholastic

Santa Claus exists. Santa Claus does not exist.

There's another example of alternate viewpoints, Mr. Robinson.

"In presenting alternate viewpoints in a historical context, ABC Entertainment is permitting the future of America to choose which version of history will be taught to and by future generations."

WTF? Permitting the future of America to choose WHICH VERSION of history will be taught to and by future generations?

Great things can be achieved by adopting the tactics of Stalin and Hitler? This shows me the thinking processes of the people running this monkey house. They know they're employing the tactics of Totalitarian dictators!

We'll be taking the kids to Six Flags and will be moving towards the Looney Tunes characters, instead of Mickey Nazi and his fluffy pals in the Repuke Gestapo.

27. take the "." off the URL
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 04:23 PM by DTinAZ
Actually, the URL problem is simply due to improper quoting/posting (during the creation of the satirical version above, of course)....remove the "." at the end, which isn't part of the actual link, and you'll get a real page.

The *real* letter is here:

http://www.scholastic.com/medialiteracy/

and it has a link to this guide page:

and I sincerely hope that fact is brought home to you when you're named in a big, fat, LIBEL SUIT.

Now that this abomination has been shown in the UK, the principals can sue there. And they'll WIN. There is too much of a paper trail out there for the LIARS to get away with this one.

The only way they can is if Clinton, Berger and Albright pull a Kerry and weenie out.

was the giveaway, although the second sentence was a set-up for anyone paying close attention. Americans can no longer discern any play on words or ideas which is the point of PT911 and EXACTLY WHY Scholastic must also be HIT HARD on their bottom line. They participated in this farce WILLINGLY. Thanks to *dimson's minions SATIRE IS DEAD.

I'm always amused by those worried about how DU will "look." That's Skinner's job and he handles it as he and Elad and EarlG see fit.

55. You really shouldn't take Scholastic seriously, Seabeyond
Their contingency plan was in place and rather than disavowing the project COMPLETELY, they issued new "study materials" that still required students to sift through HOURS of LIES. They only back-pedalled once the offending materials HAD ALREADY BEEN DISTRIBUTED. It was a calculated risk in their signing on with *corp. Don't give them a pass, dear one, they REALLY deserve a severe hit in the wallet for what they've done.
