1. 17
17.5 to be precise, because of the few episodes from '89 (Xmas Special) to '90. '90-'91 was the first full season.

I really wish Groening pulled the plug by '97. It was brilliant through then, but has grown so stale and tired since. I cannot watch any of the new ones. It's depressing.

All good things must pass. The Simpsons was the best there was from 1990 through 1997. It's a shell of itself these days.

Still better than The Family Guy though.

5. I read 18th on the "news crawler" on E!, can't trust anyone anymore!
Did I tell you my story about meeting Matt Groening at UCLA in May?

He has beautiful blue eyes and I want to be the 2nd Mrs. Groening and see his kids every other weekend. :P

He's almost as adorable as you. :D

7. Hehehe!

Cool that you met him!

I guess 18 is correct if you count that short '89-'90 season with the Xmas Special. :D But I prefer you trust me over E! :P

:loveya:

8. Well, you do tell the ZombyTroof!
After all.

My cousin said to me right afterwards, "Why didn't you have me take a picture with my camera phone?"

I said, " D'oh! Because I didn't even think about it!"

Sigh. :loveya: He is a VERY nice, warm, smart, funny man in person and kind and gracious to slobbering fans like me. Top notch all the way. I tired very hard not to gush and had to abruptly walk alway so he couldn't see my legs shaking.

Apart from the Simpsons, he's my favorite political cartoonist just for 25 years of Life In Hell. I wish he'd do more politics in Life In Hell, and less Akbar and Jeff sometimes.

But as long as he keeps doing it forever, I won't complain.

10. Excellent story!
One thing I love about Groening is that he is a Zappa-phile like me. He wrote a very eloquent obituary of Zappa in 'The New Yorker' which I still have. It comes across in 'Life In Hell' and every creation of his since.

Good to know that he is the cool, down-to-earth guy I always thought he was. I am sure my reaction would be like yours - drooling and shaking! :D

Groening still manages to bring it the way he did in those years occasionally, like the Creationism and Gay Marriage episodes last year. But you're right, it passed its prime in '97, it'll never be as good as it was then again.

I used to like Family Guy before it was cancelled, and I still get a laugh out of the old episodes on Adult Swim occosionally. But since the return to the air, McFarland has turned the show into a never ending cycle of meaningless slapstick gags and stupid flashbacks, as described in South Park's "Cartoon Wars" episodes.

I think Futurama was far better than either of them, even at their prime. And I hear it's being revived on Comedy Central in 2008. Woot!

9. Arrested Development
another great one that got cancelled. I'd hoped it was going to be picked up by another network but no such luck. I've got it on DVD.
