My little girl turned 21 yesterday.
evlspwn's gone through some tough times in high school and while in college. But she hangs in there. When I'm feeling down, I call her and cheer right back up. When I can't picture a good future, I think of her and vow to continue the fight.

Happy birthday, Sweetie. You'll always be my baby girl.

4. That was tough.

Moved her to Minneapolis for her freshman year. I cried like a baby. She went through hell for a year and a half up there and moved back home to go to school. She lives with a houseful of friends nearby now.
That wasn't very helpful, was it? Hugs to you.

5. This is her second year
She's only about 30 miles away but on a campus of over 50,000 students in an urban setting, it's a little disconcerting. She love it though and our teams ranked #1 now. It's hard that first few weeks. The house is so very quiet. :(

6. The quiet is hard to get used to.
evlspwn and her brother grew up in the city, though. I don't worry about them in that regard.
Oh, and I'm sending my son off to two years in Job Corps on Tuesday. I'm about to become an offical empty nester.

7. Maybe we should start a thread
It's very, very hard. Much tougher than I ever imagined. But, we raise them to be independent and self-sufficient. The down side? You don't get to see them much. :(

Everything I've done for the past 5 years has been for her and her future.

She's my legacy. :)

Now, if I get arrested, I only have to ask my brother to feed the dog and the cat.

11. She's melted many a heart.
But they all had to pass evlbstrd's Dad Test. Only one, the current bf, has passed.
Not that she have a test of her own, that's for sure. She is Daddy's girl.

That is the most beautiful post!

Your daughter is certainly a credit to you........and to herself as well...

I do think kids have a hand in how they grow up, and your daughter, with your guidance, is doing a superb job!

Props to you both!

Happy Birthday, evlspwn! :toast:  I hope you had a great day!

I have my vintage Zappa for President t-shirt and wear it to all rallies and protests.
I'm wearing it in the last picture of this post.
