AFI's 100 Cheers - 100 movies that are the most inspiring. Do you agree?
I think AFI is just running out of these top 100 lists because I think these same movies are also like the most heartwarming and a host of other things.

This is the Top #10 - you agree with them

# MOVIE YEAR
1 IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE 1946
2 TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD 1962
3 SCHINDLER'S LIST 1993
4 ROCKY 1976
5 MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON 1939
6 E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL 1982
7 THE GRAPES OF WRATH 1940
8 BREAKING AWAY 1979
9 MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET 1947
10 SAVING PRIVATE RYAN 1998

1. Not a bad list
I disagree on some of the placements, but I think "It's a wonderful life" is probably #1.

I liked "2001: A Space Odyssey", but hardly think of it as inspiring?

2. Seems close if not perfect
I might've liked to see Apollo 13 on there.

4. No. 12
Unless you meant you haven't seen it. I only saw "Mr. Holland's Opus" for the first time last night. Great film and highly inspirational.

5. #1, #4, and #9 Should be out of the Top Ten.
Were talking "Most Inspirational" here:shrug:
If it were contrived, hoakey, maybe...but then you'd have
"Rudy" and "For the Love of the Game" in the top 10.

7. Haven't seen most of those so I can't say for sure
I think it's a bit of a travesty that The Last Waltz isn't on the list. It's been over 20 years since I saw it the first time and I still watch it for inspiration. I'm not a religious person but you can't help but be moved that film's version of The Weight. It also inspired me to seek out and appreciate a lot of great music.

8. #98 "The Karate Kid"
My obsession as a kid with "The Karate Kid" inspired me to start the martial arts at least. Of course, seven years later I was seriously questioning my sanity over that decision while laying on the ground in extreme pain. I did get my black belt later that day though, so it was worth it.

I've actually only seen about half the movies on the list, but yeah, it's a pretty good list from the ones I know.
