I just got the word Friday that I'm being let go from my job. The reason I'm given is "mismatch of talents". I've been working admin while my talents are more creative and/or customer service. My replacement used to work here and she is coming back. My boss is going to write me a letter of reference and will allow me to set up interviews while I'm still here. I'm also going to get 2-4 weeks worth of severance pay. This will be my last week here.
I'm a little sad and in shock, but I knew it was coming for several months. This whole situation has some good and bad points, but I'm not angry with my employers. They're all very nice people. It just sucks to change jobs. I hope I do get something better that utilizes my talents more.

It sounds like your employer is at least giving you some help in finding another job. And yes, changing jobs really sucks!

It's been kind of tough today, but our VP talked to me for several hours, giving me lots of great advice and guidance. He helped me word how I should list the job on my resume and help in contacting some of the people we work with to get job referrals. I worked with alot of local VIPs, so I will have a way to get my foot in the door with them. He was telling me that with the knowledge I've gained this past year plus the connections I've made here, I'll probably be making twice as much $ this time next year. He really helped me out in getting my morale up for the tasks ahead. I'll probably take a temp position to keep the rent paid, but I'm going to take full advantage of the contacts I've made. I see this as a great opportunity to move up. I'll keep you posted.

that things work out for the best for you...cannot tell you how many times something which seems terrible turns out to be a blessing in disguise. Of course, sometimes it is VERY well disguised, as my mother would say. Hang in there!
