Recommend a nice trashy novel |
|
I've had enough of the real world. I also have a gift certificate demanding that I go to the book store right NOW to spend it. Recommend a novel that's trashy enough to be a nice escape but well-written enough that I won't throw it at the wall. It should be compatible with bubble bath.

Margaret George is a great escape. They aren't trashy but are great historical fiction novels that are engrossing and easy to read. Definitely great escapes from the day to day. http://www.margaretgeorge.com/:hi:

10. Okay...here's a couple: |
|
Any of the Stephanie Plum books...One for the Money. Two for the Dough. Three to get Deadly. Four to Score....you get the idea. The earlier ones are better than the later ones but they're all funny and trashy and mindless entertainment. Inept bounty hunter chasing down skips who try to run naked and slathered with vaseline...dead bodies rolled up in carpet...ex-hooker-turned-sidekick...and a gun-totin', funeral socialite grandma who's a HOOT.
Another is Carl Haissen. I haven't read many of his, but I absolutely LOVED Basket Case (news writer in disgrace and stuck on in obits and starts to investigate the death of a rock star and in the process you meet some great sleazy, funny characters and someone gets beat half to death with a frozen lizard). Skinny Dip is good, too.

Just the sort of thing I was looking for--interesting and funny without requiring major thought. I'll try the Stephanie Plum books. Haissen I've already read.
