3. I'll assume you're joking

"Andy Griffith" was one of the whitest TV shows ever; and the theme song reflected that, baby!

7. I don't joke about things I really like.
And I'll line up a list of Afro-American musicians that I love and their works I love. But I do love the theme song to the lily-white Andy Griffith Show. Thanks for pointing out the lily-whiteness. It was such a damn good show, I never noticed that.

Now, ask me about other funny shows. Sanford & Son gets my vote, any day of the week. Does that make me a racist? To laugh at Red Foxx's hilarious situations? LaMount's? Aunt Ester's?

I'll agree that TV's Amos & Andy was egregious. There were a few others too. However, I tuned out.

5. Night Court
Ok, so they stole Barney Miller's theme. Which just goes to show you how good it is. It remains the best.

20. "Night Court" didn't just steal "Barney Miller"s theme song.
They stole the entire damn premise of the show. Same producers, IIRC.

6. SCTV...
Not necessarily in the "soul" sense of "funky," but definitely a theme song I wish I'd written. :)

19. Definitely Hawaii 5-0
This song was so cool. And Jan Hammer definitely "mimicked" it when creating the theme for Miami Vice. In fact, the whole intro of Miami Vice was just an updated version of Hawaii 5-0.

18. Other - the "Jackson 5" cartoon circa 1972 (ABC)
I was 6 and I LOVED the music in that show, not only the intro. It was the first time in my life I liked "grown-up" music.
