Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.
Ok, so somebody has to remember this show, right?

Bad sci Fi wrapped around a marketing scheme to sell toys to kids based on the fact that the show was "interactive".

I propose that networks should bring back the concept of "interactive" TV in the way CP implemented it.

I say that shows like American Idol would be way more gratifying if I could take the pleasure in shooting at the screen and racking up points.

i had these:

the dread interlocker, Captain Powers spaceship thingee, phantom striker, and the dread interceptor (bad guy ship)

.. I HAVE it on DVD-R. And the story behind the series is a lot different than you imply.

Yeah, it had a toy tie-in.. but the producers kept putting in less and less of the interactive element bacause they wanted to tell the story..

and it was no means "Bad SciFi", there were very well written stories with meaning and background to the characters... they had the audacity to show that war ment peole were KILLED.. even in the final episode KILLING OFF one of the leads (this for a supposed 'kids' show).

When he first debuted, it was run in MANY markets in prime-time (most often paired up with "Star Trek: TNG").

"One of the most interesting aspects of Captain Power was the fact that a great majority of the storyline was filled with romance and intrigue, which was made for the adults who watched the show with their children--who more often played with the toy (below). Thus, the story was filled with romantic kisses, sexual innuendo, and occasionally scenes which implied sexual encounters between characters. In addition, the violent death of one of the major ongoing characters in the series (detailed above) was also an unusual development for a children's series." - note from Wikipedia

The writer/creator/producer of the show was this fellow you may have heard of .. J. Michael Straczynski, he did a little show a few years later called "Babylon 5" (infact there is a Babylon 5 reference IN Captain Power).

IIRC Joe calles it "a great show with the stupidest name ever".

And it seems to that three of the training videos especially the one that came with the XT-7 resembled anime.

6. I sure do remember it.
Remember at the beginning (or was it the end) they would zoom through a corridor. I never had the toys but I used to pretend I was flying through the corridor. Yes, I was a sad sad child lol.

P.S. Does your name have anything to do with FF 7?
