I'm going to see Robert F. Kennedy Jr.! |
|
He's giving a lecture on his book "Our Environmental Destiny" right here in my little town of Puyallup, Washington. I've already got tickets. There will be a reception and booksigning afterward. I'm getting my copy today!

His way of talking about the environment is the kind of message Democrats should be making everywhere. The other book he co-wrote, Riverkeepers, is excellent.

6. I met RFK Jr. a few years ago |
|
He was on campus for an environmental debate and I convinced the department that brought him in to co-pitch during our pledge drive (I work at the public radio station) for an hour.
At first he wasn't sure what he was supposed to be doing but, as soon as he caught on, he really got into it and suddenly announced that he'd written a book about the environment and he'd give a signed copy to anyone who called to pledge $20 or more. Naturally the phones went insane (and so did I, yelling, No, $100! $100!). When he got off the air he came over and asked me how many he should send. The look on his face when I said "thirty-seven" was priceless. But, to his credit, he signed and sent 37 books. I still have the label from the package someplace, addressed to me with the return address being 'The Law Offices of Robert Kennedy, Jr.'
He's a cool guy. Enjoy the event!
