What are you listening to to start out the week? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 06:41 PM by mvd
Me -
CDs:
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass (highly recommended) Veruca Salt - American Thighs (highly recommended) Stefy - The Orange Album (highly recommended) Elton John - The Captain and the Kid (at full album listening party - it's his most old style in a while, and excellent. It could have sounded too much like a re-creation, but didn't - I'll be buying it.) Emerson Drive - Countrified (at full album listening party - boy, does this sound market tested. Not very good.) Jesse McCarthy - Right Where You Are (at full album listening party - he doesn't have the voice for rock. I don't find him talented in general.) Everclear - Welcome to the Drama Club (at full album listening party - it's pretty much the same Everclear sound, but I like that sound, so I'll probably buy it.)
Samples from: Cori Yarckin (loved her well crafted pop/rock - how did I miss her?)

1. What I've listened to today: |
|
Mastodon - Blood Mountain (highly recommended if you're into experimental visual metal bands like Isis or Neurosis) Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Grand Opening And Closing (highly recommended, but you must see these guys live in order to really appreciate their music) Flaming Lips - Hit To Death In The Future Head (eh... not the best Lips CD and I dont get why there's a 29 minute track of pure noise at the end of it) Tool - 10,000 Days (highly recommended, their best since AEnima) Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade - Purple Onion (Personally, I like Claypool's solo outings a lot more than later Primus albums, but that's just me, and there's no way he'll be able to top Frizzle Fry in my opinion) Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death (album of 2006... tied with the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium) Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun (highly recommended if you can find it!)

Great - I didn't know you had The Cranberries. "Linger" is almost up there with my favorite song of theirs - "Dreams."

are the two songs of theirs that I fancy quite a bit...:) I got me a new mp3 player, so now I can go walking everyday...I just threw together a random mp3 disc today...:) With a 104 songs to go through I am quite happy...
I do have a cd list...but I'm afraid to post it, cause then someone might break into my house for my cds! I am roughly 10 discs away from having an actual 700 cds...I got more music though, because I'm like the borg...whenever I come across a new friend, or someone who wants some of my music they let me borrow their cd collection, and I assimilate them to my secondary harddrive...:) I have over 100 Gigs of music on my secondary...and probabyly 4 gigs on my master harddrive, that i'm to lazy/forgetful to move over...:hi:

Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? highly. The only other CD I have of theirs is Bury The Hatchet, which isn't as good but is solid. I'll have to catch up on their CDs. :hi:

Everyone Else is doing it, so why aren't we
To the Faithfully Departed
...trust, me I'm usually up on top of music...but I've been failing to keep up since...damn, 01/02. Its hard for me to keep on top nowadays since my main tool(fuse/much music usa) has been taken away from me...:) I use to watch Uranium religiosly, and Fresh on much music usa...plus, almost all my friends were huge music heads, so we had a rather large pool of music to delve into...:)

And of course, we also have R.E.M. (though we don't agree on their recent work, except that it isn't as good as before) and Rilo Kiley in common!
Have you heard Jenny Lewis's solo work? I also love that.
Have a great night. :hi:

I think Rabbit Fur Coat nicely expands on such songs as "More Adventurous," "The Absence Of God," and "A Man/Me/Then Jim" from More Adventurous.

Courtney Love, Blondie, and Green Day. I'm tied into that music at all times. Must hear it or will go crazy...or should I say crazy to the point that I'd be dangerous without it? }(

(I realized to day that their video for " Hey, It's Your Funeral Mama" is the funniest music video I've seen in a very long time.) The Mars Volta's new album "Amputechture" has been getting pleny of rotation on my ipod, as well.
