As a pop fan, here is my guide to female pop/rock music:
The great:
The Corrs (any guide starts with them) Nina Gordon Michelle Branch Avril Lavigne Anna Nalick The Veronicas Madonna No Doubt Pink Hope 7 Sixpence None The Richer/Leigh Nash Plumb Lillix The Like Madonna Damone Susan Cagle Fefe Dobson Brie Larson Bonnie McKee Lisa Loeb Maria Mena Butterfly Boucher The Faders Stefy Courtney Jaye Kelly Clarkson Aslyn Cori Yarckin Leslie Mills Persephone's Bees
The good:
Skye Sweetnam (worried about that second album after "Superstar.") Annie Mandy Moore Katy Rose Saving Jane (close to the great, but just a notch below the greats) Natasha Bedingfield KT Tunstall Gwen Stefani solo Cheyenne Kimball Dirtie Blonde (close to the great) Alexz Johnson Hope Partlow (great voice, and already some excellent songs) Joanna (solid debut, but she can do way better)
The ok
Sarah Hudson (does have one great song - "Girl On The Verge") Aly & AJ Sandi Thom Britney Spears (some nice guilty pleasures) Christina Aguilera Nikki Cleary Rachel Farris (music pretty good, voice not so good) Ana Johnsson Lindsay Lohan (her first album was a bit better than her second) Kristy Frank Hoku (her self-titled CD had some good songs, but too much filler. Has potential.) Jessie Daniels (Christian Avril; not as talented) Smoosh (they are still growing)
The bad
Hilary Duff Brooke Hogan Diana DeGarmo Ashlee Simpson Emma Roberts Jessica Simpson Jennifer Love Hewitt Paris Hilton

3. Where's Deborah Harry? |
|
You got a great list there. I agree with most of your choices, but where is Deborah Harry/Blondie?

4. I was thinking of a strict pop/rock definition |
|
But yes, if we included 80s rock, Deborah Harry and Blondie would be in the great category! So would The Bangles and Go Gos.
If Rilo Kiley is pop/rock, they would also be great for sure.
