I really liked it. I didn't think it would be something I would be interested in, but I figured I would watch it because there was nothing else on. I think it will be a show I will watch this season. I'm happy to see Matthew Perry doing something like this. I always thought he was a pretty good actor and Friends was a waste of his talent.

I liked it a lot.
West Wing will always have a special place in my heart, because I'm passionate about politics. But S60 seems like typically excellent Sorkin. Can't wait to see more.

But I wish that Amanda Peet would enunciate more clearly. I know she's playing the part of a beautiful, intelligent but tranquil TV executive.....
But I could only understand about half of what she said.

What a TV treat! Smart & snarky all the way!
The only thing I'm confused about is why that guy is able to fire the new network prez (Amanda Peet). I must've been out of the room when they explained exactly what his job was.

And I don't usually like TV at all.
The Judd Hirsch rant at the start killed and then the nuanced discussion (for TV at least) about Christianity in the US between the Matthew Perry character and his ex was my second favorite part.
Sorkin is so talented, it should almost be illegal.

I've seen the pilot 5 times now...and it gets better every time.
I think once they bring the funny (which should be episode 2, since now we've gotten the backstory) it will be a fabulous show.

19. I loved it; Aaron Sorkin is definitely back! |
|
I loved all of it; the walking-and-talking, the crackling, intense dialogue, the intelligent characters, the devestating critique of modern television (Judd Hirsch was mind-boggling. So was his rant.)
One thing that really put me on edge for a while was having a character who was a highly vocal Christian. My wife and I are both Christians, and although the portrayal of Christians for good or ill in the media doesn't bother me, it bugs the hell out of my wife. She's "born-again" and VERY sensitive to any affront to Christianity, real or perceived. When it looked like they were going to slam her character for being Christian, I thought to myself "Here we go". My wife's disapproval can kill any chance of watching the show, so I was really worried. Well, Aaron Sorkin made us both happy. The character (forgot her name) is balanced, charming and intelligent, with no sign of being a fundy whacko. That pleased Mrs. Aristus. The Christian character also defended a potentially offensive sketch berating "crazy Christians." Matthew Perry's character did a very good Sorkin-esque rant against bigoted pseudo-Christians. That pleased me. So I was able to relax and enjoy the show.
It is SO good to have Aaron Sorkin back! :bounce:
