I am extremely lonely this morning. |
|
It's not yet 9am where I live, yet I awoke this morning disheartened and seeking a spot of friendship. My husband had to leave for work early. I need to work at my desk today, completing a few projects I have going on at the moment.
Life seems... still. Unvivified. Incomplete. So much change has occured in my life over the summer. I have finally decided to take a new path in life - one less inundated with corporate or company bullshit and more utilizing what is between my ears. That has been difficult, and for a few dear friends, a bit of a shock. I've always have been a corporate woman, and now I hope to be an academic.
Why am I writing this here, and not in my journal this morning? Because I am lonely. I awoke to an empty house and will have little in the way of social interaction until my husband returns home.
Well, having said that, I wish everyone here a very good day.

can be good. But it can also be scary and immobilizing.
New Routines. New habits have not been fully formed. Your body/mind wants to resort to "what it knows" 'cause sometimes it's just easier that way.
YOU want the change, but a part of you resists it. It sounds like you've been through a LOT. Are you still "in transition" from corporate to academician? It's okay to feel a bit disconnected and disjointed. Have a cup of tea, put on some good music. Take a walk.
Here's a  from one woman who's in transition (moved to a new state last month) to another.
Btw - what kind of academic do you hope to become?

2. I hope your day gets better |
|
For the record, I have waken to an empty house for 8 years or so. A lot of weekends I go the whole time with no human interaction. I'm not trivializing how you feel today, I just started to feel sorry for myself after reading your post..LOL

Change has been incredibly difficult. And it was a long, rather odd summer.

6. I envy you your change in life direction. |
|
I am still in the Corporate Cesspool, living in Dilbert's worst nightmare of CUBELAND. My boss even has the "Pointy Haired Boss" doorknob hanger that says "How may I abuse you?"
REVEL in your solitude. We exist as "punctual" creatures, moment to moment.
I truly envy you. Life for you is...PENDING. Life for me at the moment, at least in the work/career environment, is a quagmire that makes Iraq look like Romper Room.

I do feel blessed to be able to do this - although it has been a bit more financially difficult for me and for Mr. Writer.
BTW: Someone needs to graffiti that doorknob hanger. What a douche!

I appreciate the effort, poet! ;) I actually have a writing project that I'm working on at the moment, so that's certainly a part of this "quest."
Thanks again. :hi:

17. I work at home, am ready for some life changes |
|
at mid-life and can't quite figure out my next path. I've been doing consulting for quite a few years so that I can have flexibilty in caring for my kid and being there for school stuff, etc. And I'm trying to decide if I want to work full-time again.
So you have my broadest empathy. :)

19. Children. That's a major issue here. |
|
I'm having to delay that significantly because of the decisions I'm making. It's always difficult for at home parents to rejoin the workforce.
I appreciate the sentiments - I hope you find that new path. Life is so very short. :)

20. I'm sorry you feel lonely |
|
Odd, I do feel lonely at times...but usually at night. I guess I'm such a night owl, I can't even feel deep emotions during the a.m.!
Listening to music helps relieve my lonely feelings at times.
Hope you have a nice remainder to your day...it's a gorgeous day here in Northern Texas. Hope the weather is sunny where you are!

I now live in the Rockies. And it's a completely cloudless sky today - after two months of monsoon-type rain.
Thanks! :)

26. It is so hard to do in the US because we have to personally pay |

for EVERYTHING our taxes don't cover. We are indebted from birth to death. But sometimes... you're able to find an escape. I hope you can find yours soon.

24. If you're going to work from home, it is ESSENTIAL to |
|
schedule yourself a break in the routine, something that gets you out of the house.
For me, it's things like exercising at the Y, singing in a choir, volunteering, meeting friends for lunch, and spending part of each working day in the nearby locally-owned coffee shop, which has free Wi-Fi.
If you don't do that, you'll be so starved for companionship when your husband comes home that your neediness will be overwhelming.
I'm the voice of experience here. I've been working out of my home since 1993.

All my friends work with my husband. If I am able to continue my schooling next year, hopefully I can develop my own social network.
Thanks for the suggestions - I certainly will consider getting out more! :hi:
