Two things: 1) I went back to my piano teacher today. |
|
She gave me such a wonderful welcome and I'm so glad to be back doing what I love so much. and 2) Why is it taking so long for certain pages here on DU to load? Anybody else experiencing this? -Lisa

1. 1. That's wonderful that you're doing something you love |

I'd love to go back to having riding lessons. I've ridden all my life but I don't have a horse right now and you can never learn too much so lessons are a fun way of getting in some riding. I need to get my knee fixed first but then I hope to find a good instructor in the area.
2. I hadn't noticed but I just logged on a short time ago.

6. I understand being grounded because of knee issues. |

Time heals all wounds, even the knees. Perhaps you can ride somebody else's horse? That's what my sister did when the family couldn't afford one. She borrowed!

How lovely to see you today, sweetie!
I think it's grand that you're resuming your piano lessons........
Use your creativity!
Let it help you heal your sorrows.........that's what I'm doing.......
And, no, none of the pages I've loaded this morning have been slow......
No idea what's happening with yours....

4. Ah, it must just be me then. |

As for the piano, I was supposed to teach in her studio this year but when my life fell apart I quit music and all else. I intend to prove to her that I'm reliable so she can forward me students even if I don't end up at the studio. Extra cash which I desperately need, you know?
:hi: Yes, the creative writing course is going to be great!

promising to do it for years.
It's a great feeling and I am now kicking myself for waiting so long.
Congratulations on going back to the piano!!

5. And congratulations to you too, for doing your guitar. |

I played as a teenager (self taught, like the piano) but can now only remember, like, the G & F chords. Have fun! Making music is a noble pastime.

I have a phobia about that and it's what I'm working on w/my teacher along with other stuff. For the record, I also have a phone phobia although it's getting better :) Hi Thomcat :hi:

Two of the things I hate most in the world are talking on the phone and dealing with finances. So what do I do for a living? I'm a telecommunications management consultant, and I specialize in telecom finance management. I deal with phone systems and money all day. :P
I hope you gave success getting past those phobias. :hi:

There aren't many jobs where I can avoid the phone. I have a bigger issue with personal calls than with work calls. I believe I don't give a shit what people through work think of me! Maybe we gravitate toward what we fear in an effort to overcome our weakness, eh?

When I was a child, my cousins had me reading music and playing the piano in a week. Simple songs of course, but I remember reading and playing. Now that I am an adult, I don't think I could even play three blind mice in a week-end.

12. I think children are very teachable. Certain children, that is. |

I made almost all of my musical progress before I finished high school. Taught myself. Then in my late thirties I decided to take lessons to learn the proper technique. It was much easier to learn when I was a kid than now. Of course, now I'm willing to put more hours into it!
