I'm in spinach withdrawal. |
|
My evening salads aren't the same. Sure, just throw more red leaf and romaine in there, it'll make up for it. NOT. I still have a bag in the fridge. I've been as of yet unable to just let it go. I may partake in the forbidden green 'n leafy...I'm feeling reckless.
And even still, the green of this bottle of Heineken is sooooo close to the green of a fine spinach leaf, I feel like it's almost mocking me. I shall have to finish it so that it can be gone, reminding me no longer of that which I should not have.

1. The spinach goes directly to the trash can. |
|
Do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not make me tell you how I felt after eating the salad bar spring mix of doom.
Just throw it out.

Pitch it unless you compost, and get him some nice carrots with the green bits on the top (those are bunnies favorites) at the store. And some kale for both of you.

21. My male bunny is way hornier now that he's neutered. |
|
It's like he knows it's safe sex or something.
It's still not as weird as the female German Shepherd we had who liked to hump our male cats. I know it was just a dominance thing, but it was still overall weird.

I just love that scene--and arugula is a good substitute, but it still isn't the same.

6. Perhaps you can grow your own? |
|
I know it takes time to do that, but you'd know it's safe!
And it can be grown in containers if you don't have any garden space...
Just a thought, my dear flvegan!

a third of one of those bags of it each day. It's the Popeye side of me. I'd need a hydroponic room to grow what I needed.
'Tis a great idea, though, and someday Peggy, I'm going to have enough room to grow my own, mark my words.

Even if I was lazy and made a frozen dinner, I would cut up some fresh spinach to throw in there. I am sad.

14. quick - find your local farmer's market |
|
And you can use the spinach you have - just COOK it. Ok - cook it very well - but cook it nonetheless. (More than just a quick saute.) How about spinach soup? Spinach lasagna? Spinach casserole. Well - you get the idea.
I also went to the farmer's market and bought it local. I guess *any* spinach (fresh veggie/fruit) *could* be "contaminated" - but - well, I could get hit by a bus next time I leave the house, too.

I miss my Earthbound spring greens mix. Every meal (except breakfast) includes a big salad; it's a mainstay of my diet.
Luckily, I've got some fresh garden tomatoes and cucumbers to hide the bland taste of the romaine...:-)

Spinach is about 75% of my vegetable intake.

28. I eat 2-3 pounds of spinach a week and I ain't stopping... |
|
of course it's mostly frozen spinach that I cook up with lots of other stuff. Spinach goes with just about everything.
Tried to grow it this year, but something killed it off both both times I tried. Got tiny seedlings which mysteriously disappeared overnight.
I'm gonna try again in the mini-greenhouse if I can find any more seeds.
