Yawn. Broncos demolish yet another highly-touted team, the Colts
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%257E86%257E,00.html

Exposing yet another supposedly monster team as being utterly vulnerable to the NFL's leading rushing offense and 7th ranked defense, the Broncos gave notice to the other playoff-bound AFC teams that they'd better to their homework.

Time of possession for the Broncos: 44:58 Are you kidding me?

1. they'll lose the first round
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 12:29 PM by ZombyWoof
New England will likely be the one to knock 'em out, if Denver makes it that far. Enjoy it while it lasts.

5. Uh-huh. The sixth place team plays the third, which means a Colt rematch
The Patriots get a bye in the first round, but I wouldn't expect a Chargers fan to know anything about the playoffs, so your confusion is easily understandable.

9. no confusion at all
I damn well know that Denver won't play NE in the first round. If Denver does happen to get past the first round, they may end up playing NE in the AFC Championship eventually, and the Broncos will lose. That is why I said "if they make it that far", meaning MAYBE Denver will get past the Wildcard game, and MAYBE past the second round. But I doubt it.

Your dig was moronic. The quality of my team's play has no bearing on my knowledge of football or the playoff picture. But I expect nothing less from you when you talk out of your ass.

I am counting on either KC or NE to send Denver home. Whatever shuts up a cocky Denver fan's mouth is okay by me.

17. KC?
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 01:11 PM by VermontDem2004
You have to be kidding me. Denver had 469 total Yards in the first matchup. Denver had 508 in the next matchup. Denver's offense dominates KC's defense but the team I fear the most from the AFC is Baltimore, defense wins championships and Baltimore certainly does have that.

18. Hey, nice backpedalling! Like the Bolts secondary when they get smoked
Which is to say, every game they play.

I damn well know that Denver won't play NE in the first round.

Sure. Now you do.

If Denver does happen to get past the first round, they may end up playing NE in the AFC Championship eventually, and the Broncos will lose.

A lot of things 'may' happen.

That is why I said "if they make it that far", meaning MAYBE Denver will get past the Wildcard game, and MAYBE past the second round. But I doubt it.

With such an obviously suspect knowledge of the game, I can see where you'd habor a lot of doubt.

Your dig was moronic. The quality of my team's play has no bearing on my knowledge of football or the playoff picture. But I expect nothing less from you when you talk out of your ass.

Given your knowledge of the subject matter, I am forced to talk out of my ass if I wish to attempt communicating with you.

I am counting on either KC or NE to send Denver home. Whatever shuts up a cocky Denver fan's mouth is okay by me.

Coming from someone who counts on the Bolts, that doesn't mean much.

24. no backpedal at all
I said "if Denver makes it that far" in the first post. The first-round loss prediction is separate. I am sorry your schools failed you in reading comprehension growing up. Well, I am being generous with the "growing up" part.

When Denver goes on to lose, you won't have the balls to say you were wrong. I expect nothing but silence from you, because you do not have the ability to admit you are wrong, on any subject, ever, even for something as trivial as football.

You know what I like about you? It's so easy to get your goat, I almost feel guilty whenever I do.

When Denver goes on to lose, you won't have the balls to say you were wrong.

Coming from someone who doesn't have any balls, that doesn't particularly impress me.

I expect nothing but silence from you, because you do not have the ability to admit you are wrong, on any subject, ever, even for something as trivial as football.

I was wrong about you, Zomby. I thought you were rational. Must be the coffee.

7. New England barely beat us with our 3rd string QB playing.
We've beaten KC and Indy, and barely lost to NE with our third string QB playing. 3 of our losses came with backup QB's playing. Other than that, we lost at KC by one point.

Three obvious clips on that 'miracle' run back by Dante Hall, none of them called.

11. I agree.
NE beat us without Jake. If we play the Patriots, they had better watch out because The Snake is a lot better than Danny Kanell

14. Not to mention Elam was hurt most of the game
And two times while they were in field goal range they punted it because they didn't have a field goal kicker.

10. New England?
Oh yes that was the team that beat us when he had our third string QB, a kicker gone for most of the game(which did affect playcalling), 6 guys on injured reserve, 3 other starters injured and 2 replacement starters that game and managed to beat us by 4. Don't underestimate Denver, you have to remember for a period of 4 games they were hurt by injuries, they are much more healthier team now and they did win 5 out of thier last 6 games.

4. Reality Check, C/A
Your boys lost to the Bears, (my boys). And, i'm not impressed by the Bears, this year.

They may have taken out a good team, but got beat by a bad one.

Just making sure you don't your hopes up too high.

13. Oh yes
That game, it's rare when you hold a team to only 216 total yards and lose the game. They played a bad game especially from the special teams standpoint, Chicago controlled clock. The Bear might finish at .500 plus they won 4 out of their last 5 games which is pretty good if you ask me.

22. Actually, They're Not As Bad As They Were Early Season
There have been some personnel changes that have made them a viable team. They've won 6 of their last 10 games.

The biggest changes are in the defensive secondary, one linebacker, receiver and QB. There are some new O-Linemen, who are playing well, but are not yet as good as the injured guys they've replaced.

The team is still very weak on the defensive line and exert very little 4 man pass pressure. And, the passing game has little continuity. It's seems they can't make up their mind whether they want to play long ball or short game. It's constantly shifting, game to game, not play to play. Three games, not a single pass longer than 12 yards, then it's UP TOP, UP TOP, UP TOP for a game.

But, they're better now than i thought they would be in September. But, they're still no a playoff caliber team, by any stretch. They just stink less than expected.
The Professor

Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 01:16 PM by ZombyWoof
The Bears are wildy inconsistent, playing just under .500. Denver is lucky they aren't .500, but a few wins as of late, and suddenly their fans have delusions of grandeur.

Denver is the worst AFC team in the playoffs, and that will be true even if Cincinnati manages to sneak in.

Denver is lucky? :eyes: There is much more too football then just lucky and plus Denver has the 5th best offense and the 3rd best offense and those stats don't even include the Indy game from last night in which they just dominated them not to mention at the RCA Dome.

12. Tennessee could be the AFC spoiler
If NE or KC falters, look for the Titans to fill the void. In fact, if Tennessee should happen to play Denver, that would be a fantastic way for Denver to get booted.

16. Super Bowl pick
Kansas City vs. St. Louis is most likely.

Or New England vs. St. Louis second.

Carolina and Tennessee both have spoiler potential.

I was amazed that the Metrodome wasn't evacuated during the game on Saturday because of the massive stench welling up from the Chiefs' defense. P-U!

25. That was one game
I am no fan of theirs, but let's face it, they are far better than the rest of the AFC West, and they don't have a great record on a fluke. New England and KC would be a great AFC Championship matchup, although I am pulling for the Titans in the meantime.

26. Far better?
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 01:20 PM by VermontDem2004
Not better then Denver, and if you want to argue otherwise I can show you the stats. You need a strong offense and a strong defense to be make a run at the Super Bowl and KC has an extremely vulnerable defense. They are the 3rd worst meanwhile Denver has the 3rd best defense and 5th best offense. Denver had 465 total yards in the first matchup, 505 in the next one. The best offense in the NFL averages around 380 ypg, KC has no answer for Denver's offense or any other high power offenses.

They looked very scary last night. Denver's pass defense was exceptional, and Quentin Griffin looked like he was back at Zero U. They may go far.

31. Thanks
No one mentions that Denver held the 3rd best offense to only 183 yards and the highest rated passer to only 146 and no touchdowns. But then again Denver could turn around and lose, no one mentions they went through a period of 4 games when they had atleast 14 players miss those games. Also Denver is a team to reckon with just because they have the 5th best offense and 3rd best defense not too mentiont that the Cowboys are #1 in that category. :)
