Eight thirty in the goddamn morning.
That's when my landlord and a work crew started installing a new furnace in the basement. That was the time of day when every pounding hammer, every whirring drill and every vocal utterance started being blown through the ductwork into every fucking room of the house, making sleep impossible. Happy Saturday.

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

1. Aren't there laws or something?
Seriously, regardless of where the work is etc. When I worked construction we were not allowed to start work on weekday(in a residential area) until 7am. Commercial was 6am I beleive.
As for weekends, I can't remember, but I feel your pain asthmaticeog...a little commone decency/courtesy would be warranted here!

2. OMG! The same thing happened here except it was the neighbor here
behind us. Started up some kind of portable Wood chipper machine at 8:30. I was livid. I don't get to sleep in except for saturday. :grr: They are usually nice people... errrr...Noise ordinance anyone?

I just posted about it in my breakfast thread. I commiserate.

3. I just switched to a day shift, after working nights for 3 years...
...I feel your pain. On a side note, I am absolutely amazed at how many people are up at 8:30 in the morning!!! :wow:

4. Ouch!
I'm sorry. I value Saturday and Sunday mornings for extra sleep.

On the good side? A new furnace just before winter is a good thing right?

(Okay, okay, I'll take off the rose-colored glasses!) ;)

8. Neighbors who make loud noises early in the morning
Should consider themselves damned lucky that I don't own a gun. I'm not a nice person when my sleep is disturbed. A hibernating bear would be more forgiving.

10. They used to do that at a dorm I lived in during college.
Work crews would start up between 8am and 9am on Saturday morning using loud equipment like weedwhackers. Its a freaking college campus! What is wrong with you people! They probably did it on purpose.

11. I used to work on a road crew installing signs
Highway signs like speed limit and stop signs, that sort of thing. They used a jackhammer to put in the base and one week we started at 6 am - trying to make up time, I guess. But we were working on a small state highway that was all private homes and it just killed me to think about all these poor people trying to sleep while we were wailing away with a jackhammer outside their home.

You have my sympathy.

12. Fuck industrial music. I never saw the attraction.
I'd write a strongly-worded note to your landlord about these neighbors. I hope you can accurately convey your displeasure by either doing extreme aerobics or banging on your ceiling with a broom handle.

Incidentally, I'm currently working on a "silencer" for jackhammers. I think maybe then I should come into some money. After that, I can take you out to an expensive restaurant and we can order something with "capers" on it.

Wish me luck, please. :toast:
