Tell me and I'll post a pic of my new baby kitty, too.
How old is yours? So cute.

Mine guy's about 5 months old. A tiger. Very soft coat, super affectionate. Adopted from the Humane Society. His name: Catsby, as in "The Great..."

Has he started to claw everything yet? Mine does even though I bought him a scratching post. The Vet says it is a way of marking territory.

11. The scratching post is the only thing he doesn't scratch. |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 09:06 PM by LiberalHeart
I have to have him declawed because I had cancer and my lymph nodes don't filter out infection very well. Can't take the risk of getting scratched and infected. I've taken him to the vet twice to be declawed, but both times he wasn't healthy enough. After yesterday's vet visit, he's doing fine. He's on a bunch of meds, but the good news is they're working.
When he feels good, he zips through the house, jumps on tables and shelves, skids across the wood surfaces, crashing into the bottoms of picture frames, lamps, and whatever else happens to be in his path. I've been following in his path, kitty-proofing the house so he doesn't get hurt and my antiques don't get wiped out.
I had to remove a dried flower arrangement because he kept picking the flowers. He's been showing up with packing peanuts in his mouth rather regularly, and I've been unable to find the source, so I'm just keeping all the doors upstairs closed so he can't find any more (I suspect they're from a room I use as an attic store room). And I've had to fix pull chains on my lamps, making them impossible for him to get to, because he likes to bite them and pull them. I'm afraid my leaded glass shades are going to end up in pieces on the floor one of these days. I've also had to use double-sided tape on my curtains where they part in the middle because he got in the habit of opening them -- not a good thing, privacy-wise at night.
He's sounds like a lot of bother, but he's actually a lot of love.

13. You can get a free account on Photobucket. |
|
Upload the photos from your hard drive to Photobucket, and that site provides you with a URL to post into a message frame like this one on DU.

Cutesobabe!
My spouse, who is into cutesobabes, stands strong for me not to have another cat to be adopted. But he loves that pic.

I didn't know there was such a thing with cats...cool! What great names for twins. I had an orange tabby once...he was a real gentle big guy (even when he was young)...great cat.

I am a pet mom, not a human mom, so any group related to pets is great. Do you find the group useful?

...if you have any questions, they're are many knowledgeable people in the group, even a couple of vets. We are parents of "pet" kids, too. Our cats are our kids. No rugrats for us. I check in often in the Pets Group, and have also asked for advice over there when I've needed some. Great one to bookmark...

And will be back. I really appreciate this because most of my friends who are human parents do not understand what pets mean to those of us who aren't, and we are pet parents. Spouse and I take good care of our pets...actually, they are healthier than I am at times as I watch their diets and ensure they have the best food (meaning prescription diet food) and don't allow the kitties to go outside in general. Pooches need to be walked more often, but that is spouse's decision. Overall, they are pretty healthy too, and vets tell us they may live longer than expected.
