so they don't have the capacity to roll around on canvases because of the odd center of gravity problem of trying to roll around with some guy's added weight attached to you.

Still, your idea is sound - I wonder what Kinkade would yell at the end of the WW treatment...

...I also object to his ridiculous trademarking of "The Painter of Light<tm>" as part of his business name (as in Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light<tm>). I guess I have a low tolerance for that sort of pretension.
Seriously, after running across his stuff, I was thinking of officially renaming myself James David Walley, the Photographer of Light<tm>. Which would, of course, raise the question "what else does anyone photograph except light?" ;-)

If he waddles like a Republican, and quacks like a Republican....
"These dealers became investors primarily because they were believers in faith, love, family and God, and the paintings reflect those values," said Joseph Ejbeh, a Rochester Hills, Mich.-based attorney who tried an arbitration case that began in San Francisco in December 2004. "A lot of these people were pulled into this scheme because of this representation, but what Thomas Kinkade's company did to them was despicable."
....
"Earlier this year, Kinkade signed a deal with developers in a northern Idaho resort town to help design five lake-view houses that look like those in paintings such as "Beyond Autumn Gate." The houses start at $4 million."
....
So, I'm thinking at STARTING at $4M these 'traditional values' are for like .03% of those who lived in the 'good old days'...

28. That was Bob Ross, and Bob Ross was ten times the artist that |
|
Kinkade is.
Ross' art - especially his TV show - was about helping people find their inner artist and have fun being creative, even if they weren't making great art.
Kinkade is all about selling fake American cum Christian shlock and shit, convincing his Christian collectors that the values will increase, and constantly milking his fan base for all the manna he can manage, and screwing them in the end.

36. I've seen people here who like him, but they are beaten down by art cops |
|
in very brutal fashion and stop exercising their freedom of speech soon after.
It's art, it's subjective, and it's no one's business if someone else likes him. I don't know his politics.
As for me, I think he has an obvious skill and and interesting technique which might be more charming if it wasn't so over-produced. It's not really my style. His pictures don't disgust or anger me, as they seem to do to some people. They just don't hold my attention for very long. Gotta hand it to him--he's a brilliant marketer.
I just read the Wikipedia entry on him. Sounds like he's more fun when he's drinking.

This year my mom got a whole set of Thomas Kinkade Angel water globe ornaments for her Christmas tree. I try to stay neutral about the subject around her, as she gets very offended when my taste is different from hers. I just never found his stuff interesting. But anyway it's marginally better than the Precious Moments crap so many of my female relatives adore. They all think I'm a pretentious snob anyway, so I don't say anything.

41. I don't like to judge art....I think it is wrong. |
|
I don't like certain types of art, but I don't judge them because their lack of appeal for me personally shouldn't give me a right to laugh at other people's taste.
My husband and I have different taste in art. He actually likes some of Kinkade's stuff just like he likes a bunch of other stuff that I may like or may not.
For example I like gaudy, earthy jewelry...my husband can't stand chunky stuff..but he buys it for me anyways because he knows it is what I like. My taste in art ranges from cubist to pre-raphaelite..
I actually bought him a small garden picture of Kinkades because it was the only one I found palatable but he likes it...and I respect that.
Now I realize that Kinkade is a jerk and that it appears he is setting up some lousy business schemes but there have been many artists and even wanna be artists that weren't sweet and sainted people...Kinkade found a niche...he makes money.....he doesn't produce anything on the level of Monet or Titian...but apparently a lot of people like it..
