Groom, Brother and Father Arrested At Wedding Reception
<snip>

It was a wedding to remember - or forget.
Guests at a wedding reception Saturday night at the Ocean View Inn on Atlantic Avenue got a little more than snapshots of a happy couple and wedding favors to take home.

On the day of his wedding, a New Jersey groom, his brother and his father wound up in jail after an argument turned into a fight. It all started because the father wanted some wine and his sons would not let him have any because they thought he had too much to drink, police said.

The incident prompted all four police units on duty to respond to the inn on the Back Shore.

"My two sons beat me up," the groom's father, Raymond Pattin, 53, of 142 Madison St. in Woodridge, N.J., told police when questioned after the incident.

Police arrested the groom, James Pattin, 24, of 54 Vernon Ave., Hamburg, N.J., his brother, Richard Pattin, 19, of 4 Bunn Road, Hamburg, N.J., and their father and charged them with domestic assault and battery.

Police were called to the inn about 8:30 p.m. after reports of a disturbance. When police arrived, an employee told them that the father and his three sons had been arguing and had gone outside.

Police were led to one of the guest rooms, where they found Raymond Pattin shirtless and bleeding from a cut above his right eye.

The incident began after a third son of Raymond Pattin hid a wine bottle from him because family members believed the father had too much to drink, the police report said.

Enraged about the plot, the father confronted his 16-year-old son. When the teen admitted to taking the wine, Pattin pushed and hit him, the other two brothers told police. The teen later showed police a bruised left eye.

The elder Pattin brothers came to the aid of the teen and took the father outside, where the argument escalated into a fight, the police report said.

2. It happened in Hamburg, NJ. I am not surprised. At all.
This is a town that up until recently they still had the Gingerbread Castle open. This place was once an amusement park, but eventually devolved into a BAR and a PETTING ZOO!!! I once unfortunately went to this place because my friend's band was playing there. SCARIEST PLACE EVER! Drunk rednecks and petting zoos do not mix.

9. typically drunk rednecks turn wherever they are into a petting zoo.
i was in Jersey for the first time a couple of months ago and I was surprised by how many rednecks are up there. I thought they congregated south. I heard more shitkicking country music in a bar up there than I ever hear down here.

10. It depends on where you are in Jersey.

Could I ask what town it was?

And it's not good to encourage the rednecks by giving them goats, sheep, a pony and some chickens.

12. Oh man, you were down with the Pineys.
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 04:54 PM by haruka3_2000
Pineys are just one of the many reasons I avoid south Jersey. Hamburg is in north-west Jersey. Pennsyltucky unofficially starts at Hackettstown. Anything west of that is Pennsyltucky, even if it's technically NJ. Even up there though is better than dealing with Pineys.

15. I'm offended by all this "redneck" bashing.
I've read nothing about gun play, so they're not rednecks. Stupid is not bound by race or creed.
