"Our House" by Madness is now a fucking Maxwell House Coffee commercial |
|
Just now, on Tweety's MSNBC show.
The lyrics have been re-written to talk about the "richness" and "boldness" of Maxwell House coffee.
Here are the original lyrics of the song, written before the copyright holder sold their souls to the devil for a buck:
Father wears his Sunday best Mother's tired she needs a rest The kids are playing up downstairs Sister's sighing in her sleep Brother's got a date to keep He can't hang around
Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our
Our house it has a crowd There's always something happening And it's usually quite loud Our mum she's so house-proud Nothing ever slows her down And a mess is not allowed
Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our
Our house, in the middle of our street (Something tells you) (That you've got to get away from it) Our house, in the middle of our
Father gets up late for work Mother has to iron his shirt Then she sends the kids to school Sees them off with a small kiss She's the one they're going to miss In lots of ways
Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our
I remember way back then when Everything was true and when We would have such a very good time Such a fine time Such a happy time And I remember how we'd play Simply waste the day away Then we'd say Nothing would come between us Two dreamers
Father wears his Sunday best Mother's tired she needs a rest The kids are playing up downstairs Sister's sighing in her sleep Brother's got a date to keep He can't hang around
Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our Our house, was our castle and our keep Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, that was where we used to sleep Our house, in the middle of our street Our house, in the middle of our street

1. How about this Minutemen song being used by Jackass and |
|
some sitcome: Corona (snippet of the lyrics off top of my head)
the people will survive in their environment the dirt the scarcity and the emptyness of our south
the injustice of our greed the practice we inheiret
All they use is the music to the song, no words. Damn, if you're gonna sell it, at least get the message out there too!

2. Don't I know it. That earworm has been in my |
|
head, along with "All These Things That I've Done" by the Killers, for the last few days now.

When's the last time they had a hit? Reagan's first term? That they're remembered at all outside of Two-Tone devotees is good news. In most cases, being a cult band doesn't pay for shit.

4. There are a few different versions of it, and it's been on |
|
for quite a while. One version shows firefighters in the firehouse singing a version of the song appropriate to them. I foget the other version(s).
