My professor spends 10 mins a class talking about "junk" science |
|
so every class period in organic chemistry, the professor devotes about 10 minutes talking about what he says is "junk science." This guy is an old, tenured professor.
So far he has talked about: -how hybrid cars are ruining the environment -why oil companies are generous -quoting John Stossel all the time -why environmentalists are responsible for killing thousands of children everyday (DDT ban)
He gets most of this from Stossel's book and www.junkscience.com. The science guy from there is a FOX NEWS COLUMNIST! Like I am going to believe any science at all from someone at fox news.
Everytime he gets on one of these "junk science" trips i want to raise my hand and argue, but i never do. I don't wanna piss him off in case i make a borderline grade. :(

2. Sheesh. What university? |

Teaching John Stossel and Julian Simons' idiocy is along the same lines as teaching creationism or flat-earthism. Their entire belief system revolves around a bizarre reality inversion: down is up, fast is slow, 1+1=3, bad is good, good is bad, hybrid cars and recycling are destroying the environment, DDT and global warming will save it. If somebody were using a college science class to teach flat earthism they would be fired.
