3. Worth Seeing
Not as good as The Man Who Fell To Earth, of course (which isn't as good as the book).

8. Wow! someone who hasnt seen it!
I found the movie to be in the Freddy Kreuger kind of bad FX/80's funkyness sort of vien. Similar to the Hellraiser 'series' of cult horror/scifi films.

Now, I totally dig Bowie, but I thought he was better in Zoolander than in The Labyrinth. Perhaps thats just because he had better hair in Zoolander, though.

:)

there is David Bowie's character the man, and then his crotch. It's quite amusing actually.

41. Can you believe Michael Jackson almost got the part?
according to imdb.com at least...

Bowie wrote all of the music and some of the dialogue, so I can only imagine what would have happened with Jackson.

I'm going to see if I can find it easily. Sounds interesting.

Written and directed by Jim Henson, a talented person who died too young.

As for David Bowie, I must be attracted to men with eyes of two colors. Right now, I have an audio cassette tape of him narrating "Peter and the Wolf." My son-in-law has a brown eye and a green eye -- very exotic! He can play the ukelele, but he can't sing!

Check out Mirrormask. I actually haven't seen Labyrinth, but Mirrormask was produced by The Jim Henson Company and is really good.

18. Costco has MirrorMask, Labyrinth, & Dark Crystal as a set for $30.00
A great deal in a nice-looking set.

I found MirrorMask to be a movie I would have appreciated much more drunk. (Though I love Niel Gaiman).

I didn't realize how bizarre Labyrinth is, until I saw it as an adult. Still great though. Same with Dark Crystal.

Although I'm more interested in the Jim Henson puppets then Bowie's performance.

I've also found it to be a good date movie too for some reason!

It'll more than likely cost you under $15. It's about this girl who is very into this book about the goblin king. She is tired of having to take care of her little brother who won't stop crying, so she wishes the goblin king will come take her little brother away. So, he does. The goblins are creations of Jim Henson, but they're more adult than the usual muppets. It's funny, it's crude, and there's a lot of potty humor. I first watched it when I was in 4th grade there at my school. I don't know what my teacher thought about it, but we all loved it. If you like that kind of thing, buy it, if not, then you might not want to. Maybe just rent it?
Also: It was one of Jennifer Connelly's first movies!

23. It's a good movie
It's really geared towards teens, but an adult can enjoy it. Bowie looks really stunning. Actually his costume is a little overtly sexual for a teen flick, but this movie spawned a whole generation of Bowie fans amongst a new generation of young women and men!

It's got good muppet action and some good songs by Bowie, especially "Within You" and "As The World Falls Down". A young Jennifer Connolly plays the lead character, very convincingly. The set design is really wonderful. There's a great scene in the Goblin king's palace that looks like an Escher painting.

Since it's a teen flick, I'd rent it first. If you like fantasy films, you'll enjoy it.

28. Funny you should ask -
- as I was just talking about this movie with my husband after dinner. I remember it being very good and I also remember (actually, I MOSTLY remember) a lot of hidden adult humor and hidden erotica. Stuff that the kids wouldn't notice but that the adults would pick up on. Hell, it kept me entertained for 2 hours with a 4 year old so it couldn't have been too bad!

Sexual symbolism - items that looked penile in shape - that type of stuff. And Bowie's pants! Yep - I think I'm going to buy myself a copy of that flick!

I must have watched it at least 200 times as a teenager. And David Bowie in that movie was my first real crush and set the tone for all of my subsequent boyfriends. I still love me them skinny blond long-haired guys. Mmmm, mmmm!

Definitely watch it. That's my advice.

On Edit: It also stars a 14 year old Jennifer Connolly, and she is quite lovely at that age, prettier than she is now, IMO.

I'm definitely putting it on my list!

Tonight, we're letting our five-year-old grandson watch the first "Spiderman" movie.

He's loving it! His parents thought it was TOO SCARY for him when he was "little" -- but he told us tonight he is "big enough now"! Grandkids are so cute -- !

In peace,

32. Technically a kids movie, but parental guidance suggested...
Due to David Bowie's junk. It is quite pronounced in his unitard.

It's a good flick though. Muppets are rad.

36. It's fabulous...one of my favorites of all time!
It's dark, but fun fantasy...they really don't make fantasy films like this anymore, IMO. Harry Potter...eh. Labyrinth, The Neverending Story, and Return to Oz are three of the greatest dark children's fantasy films of all time, and they all came out in the 80's. I think that was the golden age of dark fantasy.

Anyway, I don't think you will be disappointed. David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly were perfectly cast, and their chemistry together is great.

Hope you like it!! :-)
