Poll question: Daddy the Cat has lost half his teeth. Help me figure out what happened. |
|
He came home earlier this week bleeding from the mouth. He had lost most of the teeth on the left side of his face, behind his canines.
He can eat now, but he seems to be in pain. The left half of his mouth sags as if he had a stroke or something.
Our theories:
hit by a car tussled with something other than a cat (fox? raccoon? possum?) shot by a BB gun fell & hit something with his face
It is a mystery.

3. Could someone have kicked him, or thrown a rock? |
|
That happened to a friend's cat years ago, and resulted in some facial injuries...

4. We adopted an abused kitty years ago that had no upper or |
|
lower front teeth. She had been abandoned by tenants of an apartment above a business location we rented. They moved away and left the cat. We took her to the vet for a check up and he pointed out some injuries she had plus the fact that she had obviously been starved. She had a constant weepy right eye and of course, the damaged teeth. The Vet told us that many injuries to pets are from abuse by owners or others who do not like them near. Any nasty people in your neighborhood? I would imagine if your kitty had been hit by a car, the injuries would have been far more severe. We were not surprised that our new kitty had been abused, the people were nasty. She was the best pet we ever had and is proudly displayed as my avatar. I miss her terribly.

I'm glad you have good memories. And I know she was grateful for a good home.

7. Do you live near young boys? |

I knew these two kids when I was growing up... they did horrible things to a few stray cats. They were all around assholes, too. I wasn't surprised when they got kicked out of school.

A group of them always plays basketball in the middle of the street. I always wave as I drive through, when they clear out for my car. They seem nice enough. . . .

Specifically with it being on one side and just in his mouth area. I'd think if he tussled with a wild creature or bigger animal that he'd show signs of pulled out fur or he'd have some bites somewhere.
I sure hope he feels better soon.
