Is it a bad sign when you ENJOY the silent treatment?
I've been getting it all day from the SO and I just don't care. I'm actually enjoying the peace and quiet. I suppose this doesn't bode well for him....

1. Wait. Is this a rhetorical question?

Like, did you want us to respond? Or did I just wreck the whole "silent treatment" thing?

:yoiks:

3. You're so cute.. really!
No silent treatment from Lounge Lizards desired... only from him. :P

2. Men suck at giving the silent treatment
Women, on the other hand, are masters of it. Now I understand why it doesn't phase my wife when I try it on her. Like you with your SO, she enjoys getting me to shut up!

6. That's nothing
I've been sleeping on the couch for ten years. I snore. Or so I am told.

10. It is claimed men will 'do it', any time, any place, and any where.
To be asleep on the couch sounds... well... boring.

Sounds painful for you if you are looking for what S.O.'s do to each other in that particular room. (I have been reading from two books to understand the procedures. The human experience is a fascinating one at times.)

5. Presumably. I do not know.
I do not believe I would enjoy it.

There are times when both partners in a relationship have nothing to say, but this is not identical to the condition we are discussing known as "the silent treatment", which is a form of avoidance and/or punishment aimed at one partner by the other as retribution for an action deemed wrongful.

Do I understand this condition correctly?

8. You absolutely do
Although I am still not sure of what I did so wrong... nor do I really care anymore. Fuck passive aggressive stuff.. it just isn't for me.

14. And not in a good way.
:D Bad joke.

Passive-aggressive activities are also illogical. They are not an effective means of communication, which is the crux of any relationship worthy of the designation "relationship". Again, this is my own understanding based on observation; I have insufficient real-life experience in which to draw any conclusions.

Have you asked him point blank if there is a problem going on? His avoidance seems most disconcerting and needs to be addressed.

15. Oh, I have
We had this weird fight last night... he got all passive agressive then, said there was absolutely nothing wrong and then proceeded to get into bed fully dressed. That's an old trick of his... let's me know he's pissed without him saying it. Eh, who needs it anyway? I tried again this afternoon to get him talking and making sense, but no dice. After that, I decided to just sit down and work and ignore the childishness altogether.

9. No. It means you are sane and need a rest from cR@P.
Or, that's what it means when I do. :)

13. You have my permission to enjoy it sometimes and to feel
mad as hell about it at other times. In fact, that is our Divine Right.

16. It honestly never makes me mad anymore
Then again, I rarely get "mad" over anything anymore, other than that asshole who hijacked the White House.... THAT makes me mad
