Poll question: POLL: How badly does SNL suck @ss? |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 11:55 PM by Julius Civitatus
I'm watching the season premiere of SNL. Every year it is a little bit worse, but this is just unfunny; I barely laugh twice during the entire show. Not even Dane Cook can save this ship from sinking. It's a train wreck!!!
What do you think?

1. I'm amazed at how terrible this was |
|
If this season premiere is an indication of things to come, they are doing must worse than I thought.
The actors are OK. Most of them can carry their line fine, but show little capacity for real funny improvisation (what made Ferrel, Carvey, Myers, and others so big). And they are working with horrible material. Their writers are just HORRIBLE.

This is the first time I have ever missed an SNL season premiere. I must be older than dirt.

10. Well sure, but if sucking is bad, and you're bad at sucking, then you're |
|
bad at being bad, which means? :silly:

7. The skit about Airport Security was pretty barbed and made |
|
the point about how ridiculus the Homeland Security department really is...
I turned it off after that and watched the tape of Studio 60 on Sunset Strip...
That was a hell of a lot funnier....

9. Umm, I have watched SNL since the very beginning & I had |
|
more laughs at this episode than I have in a long time. It all has to do with mind-set at the time. Really.

15. It's been dead since about 1993... |
|
And even before that, more of it was garish rather than funny.
Still, the episode Roseanne guested on was great... and the season that had the "Brady Bunch meets the Partridge Family" skit (93?) was their last gasp of freshness.
I was grateful for when MadTV started, though its sarcastic style even got to me on occasion. (Mind you, even the sad skits like "McDumpster" seem more relevant today... :( )

16. Oh how I miss the old SNL! |
|
When they had people like Radner, Belushi, Crystal, Short, Akroyd, Martin, Murphy, Carvey, Chase and others.
I used to love Billy Crystal as Fernando in "Fernando's Hideaway." "It is better to look good than to feel good." Martin Short as a relative of Kate Hepburn or as the paranoid business man: "It's not me, it's them." I would laugh my butt off every week. It was especially good around election time. I don't even think to watch it anymore. It is not anywhere near the same show it used to be.
