MYST question
Should the games be played in order? And is the XBOX version worth playing or is the PC better?

Thanks!!

2. No need to play them in order
Although I pretty much did. RealMYST (for the Mac) was my starting point. Then Riven (my favorite of the series, even though the technology isn't as good as the later games), then Exile (also pretty good), Revelation, and finally End of Ages. Right now, I'm sorta working my way through Uru on my work laptop (but not while on the job!) - it's the only game which doesn't have a Mac version.

The main reason to play them in order is to gradually learn the back story. There is a paperback called "The Myst Reader" (available on Amazon) which goes into quite a bit of detail; I haven't actually read the whole thing yet.

The games themselves all follow the same format: explore, find clues, solve puzzles As you approach endgame, be sure to save often, because the choices you make will determine if you survive or not. Usually it's the last choice in the game that's the clincher, so if you get bumped off, don't get bummed because you didn't finish the game - you actually won't have missed much.

I love these games. I'm no good at the shoot-em-up variety, and my hand-eye coordination often fails me when in comes to arcade games. If you need help, go to www.mystworlds.com. There is a wealth of information there, discussion boards, walkthroughs, and tons of Myst trivia.

Enjoy!

PS - Sorry I can't answer your XBOX question - I played all except Uru on my Mac PowerBook.

3. About the same opinon here..
Although I played one of them (I think it was Riven) on the Playstation; I played 3 others on the PC. I kinda like the PC better because it is easier to navigate with the keys and mouse than the playstation buttons.I can also make notes on a notepad in the bacground that help me.

Have fun!!

4. Order of the games...
Myst, Riven, Exile, Myst IV, Uru(?), Myst V

Uru doesn't fit perfectly into the series, but it's my favorite. I would definitely play them on the computer instead of XBOX. As for playing them in order: it's a story. You can, theoretically, play them in any order- but you get a lot more out of it if you play them in order.

(Also, I've thrown Uru in based on the age of one of the characters you meet and some of the stuff you experience in V. It can be played after Exile (that is, in order of release, without too much lost).
