I am so heart-broken.
My very best friends in the world just left my house 15 minutes ago for their new home 1500 miles away. I'm so very sad. They are the 2 best friends a dog and a girl could ask for and I will miss them every single day. Did I mention they have to be my neighbors as well? Double whammy.

Anyway, stopped sobbing long enough to make this post. I know people have to move on, but it doesn't hurt any less. I've lived here longer than any place since my childhood and they moved in around the same time.

That's it. Thanks for listening. Back to sulking for the night. Tomorrow is a new day.

2. Thank you.
It's just so hard to lose people you love so dearly. We truly became family. I don't imagine I'll get over this soon, but I know I have to keep plugging along.

3. Make plans to visit as soon as they are settled
Seeing their new home and surroundings will ease the sadness. Hang in there....

4. Saying good bye is so hard, sometimes.
Hopefully, you can keep in touch with your friends, though. And, I hope your new neighbors turn out to be nice...and maybe friends as well!

5. You're not sulking, you're grieving. And that's OK. Got it?
It's all right to feel that way.

6. Thanks.
It really does feel like grieving right now. I am just going to miss them so much that my heart literally hurts.

8. And, as I said, it's perfectly natural to feel that way.

7. I hear you. My two best friends also decamped in the last few weeks.
This poor old heart will never be the same.

9. It's rough.
And I'm afraid that the last half hour has been the first that it's really sinking in. Yes, I painted their place and helped them move, but I've been rather numb until now.

I just can't imagine what it's going to be like without them.

My only saving grace is that they are moving to DC and given my love for all things political, they are begging me to move East. Ironically enough, a company in NYC familiar with me, contacted me and I've had 2 phone interviews in the last 2 wks. I find out this week whether they are going to fly me out. I don't know about moving my Midwestern self, but it would be much easier knowing they were a short train ride or drive away.

Even my dog will miss them. Poor guy, he doesn't even know how much he's going to miss them until they are gone. They take care of him while I'm on the road, which is more often than I like.

10. I 've needed as many people around me with free flowing love
as possible. I'm a pretty strong person but THIS has been a little bit of too much.

You PM me whenever you want.

Life is change but/and, change is tough.

11. Thanks.
And that door swings both ways.....always feel free to PM me as well.

By and large we did have a nice day. We went for brunch, cocktails, then they surprised me with a 75 min massage at a top salon. There was some drama (unrelated to us) that came into play after that, then they were gone.

Just gonna miss them so much. Let me know if you want to have a pity party anytime soon.

12. Well, I made it through the day,
but not without a few teary moments.

I decided today that it's time for me to make a move as well. I've already been interviewing in NYC and I've decided whether or not I get that job that I'm actively going to seek a job on the East coast.

14. It's time for a new personal and professional adventure.
But, I do have to warn you......I'm a helluva good time. Don't be fooled by my Midwestern background.

Ironically enough, I turned down a job with this same company 7 years ago in lieu of the crapass job I have now. I started to put myself back on the market and they coincidentally called me to see if I might be interested again. Fate? I'd say so.

I'm also going to look in DC. Given my love for all things political and the fact my best friends just moved there, it would be a nice fit too.

I'm keeping all options open, but I'm really looking towards NYC. I can just feel it in my bones that it's the right time for me to move there. You know that feeling?

Thanks for the encouragement. If I get the job, you guys will be the first to know and I will definitely expect a DU NYC meet-up upon arrival!

16. Thanks NWC81.
I think the worst will be the coming weeks. And it's my birthday tomorrow. I know they wanted to stay for it, but we celebrated over the weekend.

It's just rough because I'm with them 3-4 nights a week. I'm probably closer to them than my own family in many ways.

Big sigh. I know it will get better.
