Should I...or Shouldn't I...? This is a big question...
:(

We took the kids to the last game of the Tigers regular season yesterday. I really wanted them to experience the joy that comes from winning the division. But, happily, they are still in the play offs and do have the best road record of any team in the MLB... but still it was sad to see them lose a HUGE lead. And *gasp* Maggs smiled at WBG!

My daughter has the day off today because her school had Homecoming last night (which she missed because she wanted to go to the game instead). There is a rally today outside Comerica Park for the Tigers. She wants to go. I don't want to. We spent 7 hours down at the park yesterday and I re-injured my foot just a little bit by attempting to walk in a cast. But, this may be the only time on earth that she gets to experience this. I'm all a flutter as to what to do.

On a positive note, I shut down a stupid Tigers Bandwagon fan. We were in the stands, irritated with how much fans don't support the team (i.e. stop making noise, start razzing players). I just couldn't believe it. When we were walking to the car, this idiot walks by me and says,"they suck and don't deserve it..." I totally snapped ( and I'm not even a big baseball fan) and said,"It's like this Buddy. You have a team that was projected to be in 4th place at the beginning of the year... Here they are, in second, after spending most of the season in first...after two of the worst seasons in history... if you're not happy about that, you don't deserve a winning team." He turned to my husband and said,"Whoa...you have a feisty one there." I swear I was gonna punch him until MrG hobbled me away. :grr: Sorry for getting off topic. :hi:

Should I throw caution, not to mention sanity, to the wind and take her??

1. Sure.
The "feisty" comment would totally piss me off more than anything, though. Condescending, much?

:grr:

4. Thanks billy!

I don't know what to do. I know it's kind of silly, but I really don't want to go...but then I think of memory making and fun having and almost change my mind.

5. My guess is you will take her even though you don't wanna do it
I don't think either decision is wrong though, I just have this overwhelming feeling that because of who you are  your gonna do it anyway. :hi: :D

6. It's only from 11-1... and she gets a chance to win playoff tickets...
 Thanks OB! You're the sweetest. I will probably try to talk her out of it, talking myself into it instead. :D

7. My thoughts:

Take her. Ten years from now you'll have long forgotten the pain, remember the game and and laugh about hobbling around.

Then again, I am a strange combination of masochist/hedonist, so you can't always go by me...

9. Then we are cyber sisters because MrG is always accusing me of
that type of behavior. This has been such a great summer/year with my daughter and I only get one more year with her really before she flies.

Thanks D A. :hi:

12. I can hear it now
talking her out of it while talking yourself into it. This is the stuff memories are made of. Not things. Events. And you have a chance to be right in the thick of it with WBG. I say go. And take pictures!

14. We had such a good time yesterday... and all season...
until they lost. :( But, they're still IN! I'm still hedging around on it. But if we go we'll have to leave shortly to avoid traffic.

13. I agree with others here --
and although I don't know you very well yet, I would just like to add this thought.

I have injured myself in the past, repeatedly and for stupid reasons, when I pushed myself too far in order to do something I wanted or felt I should do. If you're already injured and in pain, and IF you are concerned that you might cause more serious or more permanent injury by doing this two-hour day-trip with your daughter, then perhaps you should think it over a little longer?

I'm a HUGE baseball fan, too, so it's hard for me to advise against creating great baseball memories, for sure! :)

It's just that I would be in sooo much better shape in my 50's if I had used better sense when I was younger and not "overdone it" time and again, especially on my bad right knee. Four surgeries and a knee replacement and decades after it all began, my knee is hopeless now and the cane is a permanent if not constant fixture.

Just sayin'... You know best what you can and can't do, within reason. And if you DO go (which I suspect you will), just take extra care not to hurt yourself more than necessary! :D

ENJOY!

15. Thank you vicki... I appreciate your thoughts.

I stupidly stepped wrong yesterday. D'oh.

I have rheumatoid arthritis so I sometimes feel as if I am trying to do all the things I might not be able to later on. I think I'm getting an answer though. It's pouring down rain and I have this cast on, which would disintegrate I think. :(

Thanks again!

In a similar situation, my mother did the same for me and three other 14-year-old girls.:)

18. I'll be the voice of reason
and say "no" - you have to be mindful of your health and part of teaching kids responsiblity is teaching them respect for their health, if you don't take care of you, what example are you setting for them?

:hi:

19. As a lifetime baseball fanantic
I say go for it. Perhaps you can get a portable chair to use to sit while the events go on.

But it is a great experience!
