Seriously, why the hell do I allow myself to watch "Animal Precinct"
which is usually on Animal Planet channel like every other hour. But if I flip through the channels and it's on TV I have to watch it even though it makes me so fricking sad over what people do with their pets

Break me of this addition

1. Yeah, that show makes me not miss cable
That and Interventive Labor Followed By a Completely Aviodable C-Section Day, or whatever that show on Discovery Health is. I can't watch either one without yelling at the television and getting a really unattractive throbbing forehead vein thing going on.

2. Because you're a glutton for emotional self-punishment.
I watch it too, and it just always pisses me off/saddens me.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted or additioned to it though. ;)

3. That is the most unfortunate show
because I support what these people do and appreciate that they are out there.

But I refuse to watch, I just can't...

4. I know. I sometimes torture myself by watching that.
Then I can't sleep.

5. I try to see the positive in it
Many of the animals find better homes. And it's nice to see the animals thriving in their new homes.

The most heartbreaking story was a man who was reported because his Dalmatian was emaciated. The guardian said that she was very ill and he was trying to make her last days comfortable. The cops called the vet and confirmed it and promised not to bother him again. It was so heartbreaking. Here is a man who loves his dog, and she's dying and wasting away.

6. when I had the good cable I watched it religiously
Because I've worked for so many vets/ kennels and I never got to see anyone in handcuffs. It's refreshing to me to see these people get put away, get cuffed and paraded around on tv, get given hell in court by a judge. I know it's hard to watch but it's one of the best shows on tv.

7. I was addicted to it, too.
One day, I just had enough. I couldn't take it anymore. Watching that show made me love my dog all the more.

Thinking about who she could have ended up with if I hadn't taken her...

:scared:

8. There is that, but most of the outcomes are good. Plus, I love watching
hard-bitten cops from NYC, and the people in Detroit, scritching the chin of a kitten or loving up a dog. The other areas are ok too, but I get a kick out of NYC/Detroit.

10. those were my favorites too
I love watching those tough NYC ex-cops deal with the bad guys. And Sean Hairiston on Detroit is my all-time favorite, and he was my all-time favorite rescue, of the dog that was almost frozen in the snow, that he rescued and they nursed back to health.

I like the Jim guy that runs Houston. He went to NOLA after Katrina and did door to door rescue of animals. He seems like an incredible person.

14. I only watched a few episodes before cable go bye-bye
I was completely, utterly stunned. What an amazing outfit they have there, and their staff is top notch. I really liked the director, she seems totally with it and on point.

16. did you see the one where the cat got into the cactus
that absolutely broke my heart. It was covered in those spines and just couldn't move and was crying and crying. I didn't really know that could happen. But they knocked him out and just started pulling them out and soon he was good as new. I could never be a vet tech cause when stuff like that happens I just lose it. That driver was pretty horrified but she kept it together.
I am really missing that show right now. It's not a justifiable expense though. It pisses me off I can't get a stream of it from the animal planet website. We have the technology for that now...arrrggghhh.

11. Do you just watch the show while you wait for "Meerkat Manor" to come on?
'Cos if that's the case, I'll tell you that the show is scripted. Every bit. They rehearse those things. And where's Shakespeare? Shooting an upcoming romantic comedy with Lindsey Lohan.

12. HAH! You really think they're organized enough to follow a script? They
can't even keep track of where they left the kids.

18. I can't watch that show.
It always sets off my six mutts who love to sing along with the TV dogs. Oh, it also depresses the hell out of me.
