I should hunt my boss down and kick her ass :( |
|
So I got about 4 hours sleep last night. Woke up at 7 a.m. to verify addresses with my boss, took off to school to do my crappy, worthless FrontPage homework, went to the grocery store and to pay a bill, came home and worked for awhile, did a rush job for my boss about ten minutes before I had to go to my night class.... long enough sentence for you? So anyway, I tell her to go easy on me tonight and was very specific that I wanted no more than 30 minutes to an hour dictation tonight, which usually translates to about 3 or 4 hours of work for me. "Oh yes, Kim, I understand completely.... not a problem" and " Thanks so much for doing that rush job for me on such short notice"! "Have a great night at school"!
I come home after class tonight to almost 2.5 hours of dictation.... I think I'll cry now

1. My boss has been my boss for over a month |
|
And she hasn't even looked at my resume yet.
There are 5 people working under her. She hasn't read ANYONE'S resume. And she sits around all day whining that there's nothing to do.
Honestly. :eyes:

2. Nice work if you can get it, eh? |
|
So you've been hired but you can't work because she's dragging her feet?

3. Your boss expects you to work when you come to work? |
|
How horrible. What an inconsiderate employer. (Were you serious about complaining that you are expected to work at work?)

5. I'm a boss. Could you tell? |
|
And I worked 65 hours last week and do not get overtime. My sympathy meter is temporarily broken.

6. I don't get overtime either |

Nor do I ever take a day off. And I do rush jobs anytime my boss calls me up and wants them. And I do the hardest doctors and almost all of the ESL doctors and very rarely get it wrong. And I took time this morning and this afternoon to do rush jobs for her. And all I expected was that she would respect the fact that I asked not to be swamped on a night when I have class and I have already worked all day.
Oh, and not looking for sympathy. Just needed to blow off steam and, inadvertently, you helped me to do so... thanks!

7. I understand what you are saying. |
|
And it fucking sucks...at least from my still in school, not certified yet perspective. Like the time I spent 4 hours on an operative report, think it was perfect, turned it in and got a 50.

8. Operative reports do suck ass |
|
I dunno... I kinda thought the Lounge was somewhere you could vent if you needed to. I guess some people don't think so. And to think I was staying away from GD to avoid flame wars :wtf:

but people will piss on you for no good reason. I just try to ignore them. God knows enough people are ignoring me, lol.
When I got into operative reports, that's when I started hating transcription. Plus I was an english major first time around in college and I was pretty pissed about getting marked down for using a period instead of a semicolon when it's a matter of discretion. I really got burned out on it, to say the least, after operative reports came into the picture. That and the history and physical just make me want to scream. But you've kind of revitalized my interest in it. I do miss it this sememster. I just got temporarily discouraged. People here just don't have any fucking concept of how tedious and time-consuming that work is, especially when you have a million other things to do.
I hope you manage to get it all done somehow...

10. Where operative reports are concerned, one thing to keep in mind |
|
If you can get through school and into a job, you may never have to do an operative report again unless you want to. The closest I've been to an operative report in months is doing cystoscopy procedure reports for the Urology guys and those are pretty damn easy in my view. And, despite my bitching and moaning lately, it is worth it if you can get to the point where you can work at home. You just have to learn to say no... a lesson I sorely need to learn myself.
I just got Nephrology and Urology done and now I'm on to Rheumatology... back to the trenches :hi:
