What did women in primitive cultures do about menstruation? |
|
I'm talking cultures where they don't even have what we'd call "cloth."
Well?

2. Seems like that would be messy |

But some cultures did have huts that the women would go in... maybe so they could be messy together?

3. Dunno for sure, but I've heard they "went away" |

ie out to the bush or woods or jungle or tall grasses, until their (overt) period was past. I cannot cite, but recall reading/hearing this from what I'd consider anthropological sources. There were superstitions about menstruating women, and I think that they were "encouraged" or pushed away for this time in their cycle.
Or...I am full of crap, the more so for passing on mis-remembered info ?
Surely the Web can tell us....

4. I'd read Anita Diamant's |
|
"The Red Tent." Offers an interesting perspective on (I think actual) Old Testament practices for women. :hi:
