Landlord showed up at 9 AM this morning GRRRRR
Told him to come back later.

Just went to an attorney yesterday re: so many problems and that his mother died in this house in January and I was not told as is required by law prior to my agreement to rent or not.

1. Well, it is just business. Use it as an opportunity to get what you want..
decide what you ultimately want out of the deal, and how you can leverage your position to get it.

It IS just business, it's not personal.

3. Update: Landlord was supposed to be here at 3 PM
Calls at 3:15 PM to say, "...ummm...I can't come over right now. I can't come over today. I'm in the middle of something I can't leave."

Me: So when will you come over?

L: "ummm...I don't know. Tomorrow?

Me: What time tomorrow?

L: "ummmm...I can come over at 4 PM."

Me: OK. Then I will expect you at 4 PM tomorrow."

L: I'll call if I can't make it. I'm...umm...in the middle of...ummm..a project. I can;t make it today.

Me: Uh-huh

L: OK. I'll come over tomorrow.

Something tells me he wants me out of this house. So far he hasn't deposited my check for October, and I have a postal return reciept that he received it on Sept. 29.

Sure hope he does want me out. :bounce: I would gladly leave by the end of this month.

9. Per CA Landlord-Tenant Law

11. Go_Nelly ......I think you are dealing with
someone that is not very aware about his legal responsibilities as a landlord.
I can imagined that he has lived in that town most of his life and the house came to
him from his family. He sounds like a typical small town landlord. Was he a "mama's boy"?
Perhaps their are issues with his mother that he never resolved.

Do you know anything about his background, such as education, his day to day profession
other than being a landlord? It sounds like his age is around 30s to mid 40s?

Be calm, when you meet up, you are armed with the facts, the law and a superior intelligence.
Do you like the place other than the landlord? If you do put positive energy towards the place, the meeting
and treat the landlord like the squeaky wheel, that might need a little grease of compassion.
I'm not saying to backdown one step, the law is on your side and perhaps he needs it spelled out to him.

Anyway, go luck I hope it goes smoothly for you.
