So now I have a carcass fascination |
|
I find these obscure paths in the area around where I live. There used to be railroad tracks on these paths, but now they're all torn up and the paths meander through some really remote and isolated spots in the White Mountains.
So today, I'm out there scouting places to wait around for moose or bear so I can get some photos and I come across the carcass of a moose. It was huge and probably had been there a week or so. I was riveted to the spot, hung around for about 15 minutes pondering what could have happened to that moose. More than likely, he got hit by a car and survived long enough to get a little deeper into the woods so he could die in peace.
Stuff like that floors me. Last week I probably heard the same moose scraping his antlers on a tree in the woods...this week he's worm fodder. Fuck, life is short. Reminds me to quit doing stuff I don't want to do.

1. Wow, that would be a strange thing to happen upon |
|
I used to live on a farm and we butchered a lot of our own meat. It was always really fascinating to see the internal organs, how things connect, how you can see the four chambers of a cow's heart, complete with valves and stuff. Life is such an amazing thing, all these complex systems working together. It really is incredible yet like you say, it can be over in an instant.

i was actually hoping that you had happened upon the carcass of any of the BushCo asshats. But, you're right - life is indeed short. Do as many things as you'd like to before it is too late.

4. Funny how one of the thoughts that went through my brain |
|
as I gazed upon the dead moose was George Bush and Dick Cheney. Funny how I thought about this moose, who never harmed anyone in his life came to an abrupt end, tragically, and yet here we have a guy with a brain as tiny as a moose's stirring up enough shit to kill people he doesn't even know. Funny how I relate all that profound shit to what's going on in this crazy world.

5. I understand completely. I can't turn my thoughts off regarding the |

disasters in this world thanks to Bush, et al. I've never been so perplexed and depressed. How can this continue without some kind of revolt?

6. I'm astounded that nothing sparks the revolt |
|
How much abuse can one planet take. It's like we've lost the fight or flight instinct. Eveything is about waiting...waiting til the next election. It's damned depressing. I've got emotions leaking all over the place, but that does no good when there is no revolt to channel them into. Wish I had the balls to be a V.
