Qdoba Mexican Grill, ever been there? |
|
The recently opened up one of these close to where I work and I was wondering if any of you have ever eaten their food? We don't have a hell of a lot of Mexican restaurants up this way. http://www.qdoba.com/

They make everything fresh to order. You just go down the line and tell them what to put on it. I love their burritos, which are freaking huge, probably about 1.5lbs and only $5.

They have burritos like that. I am guessing they are about the same.

10. Chipotle is a little better than Qdoba |
|
but they're pretty comparable. I'd just go to whichever one normally has the shortest line.

3. it's pretty good for a chain |

they make your food fresh on the spot...
It's clean, pleasant and they give you a fair amount of choices of ingredients. I really like the Poblano Pesto burrito with black beans....

And I'm not a big chain guy, as you know. Qdoba does a fine job, though.

think of them as the Subway of Mexican food. The mole is pretty good.

7. They're owned by McDonald's. |
|
At least the last time I heard.
The food's passable for fast food.
What struck me as weird is that all of the employees were Mexican. Why?

8. Oh, I doubt they are Mexican up here |

If they are, then they got half the Cleveland population that I would know of.

:puke: Hubby and I have tried them three times (which is what we usually do with a restaurant before deciding whether we like it or not), and each time was crappier than the first. I really don't like their "wad o' food" burritos---they're too big and messy and nasty for me. I don't like all the garbage they put on their burritos. Their cheese dip is canned, as is most of the stuff they use for ingredients. I put them in the same category as Moe's---too expensive for what you get, and nasty when you get it. :yoiks: Giant burritos that are bigger than your head and loaded with everything except the kitchen sink are just disgusting to me. More is less in this case.
I really miss Baja Fresh. Of the Tex-Mex chains, they were the best. All the ones in this area closed, and I hated to see them go. Their sauces were all fresh, as was everything else they did.

11. I try to shy away from fast food places, but |
|
I like them best when fast food is the only option. It's difficult to find a fast food place with fresh, whole foods. Their veggie burrito is good, I get it with just the rice, beans, vegs and salsa, and not all the gloppy stuff (guac, sour cream, etc.). The burritos are too big for me for one meal though, but the staff is very accomodating where I go as they will make two smaller burritos for me instead of one huge one; I'll eat one there and take the other to go, and even though they're out an extra tortilla they still charge the same. Plus they have a frequent diner card, every 10th meal is free.
So yeah, FWIW I recommend them.

ethnic food eating tip NUMERO UNO:
if the place is loaded with americans, it probably isn't very authentic (or good).

Only ate their cause I didn't have time for something non-quick. I wouldn't mind eating there once here and there.. but not to often.
