Just FYI: The next two weeks will be hell for me... |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 03:23 PM by NewWaveChick1981
:( I'm leaving tomorrow morning to visit my dad to celebrate his 75th birthday (which was actually Sept. 16, but this is the only time that works for everyone). My siblings and I are flying out midday tomorrow and will be back on Monday afternoon. I'll be back in the office on Tuesday of next week, only to leave again on Wednesday for a professional conference. I'll be back from that Friday evening, then that Saturday, hubby and I have to head out for a four-hour drive to his niece's wedding (The Wedding from Hell). His niece is a spoiled-brat Bridezilla bitch, and I'll be glad as hell when it's over. She's had three major meltdowns in the last week, and I'm sure she'll have more before it's all over with. Saturday the 14th will be the climax to a year-long festival of engagement parties, post-engagement parties, barbecues, picnics, luncheons, bridal showers, and other wedding orgasms. It's been a total nightmare, and I'm just glad I get to hear about it instead of experiencing it. We drive back that night after it's over with, because that Sunday is the only time I have to decompress before heading back out for a business trip with my boss and another coworker. :eyes: Damn, I hope I get another job soon.... :yoiks:
So, bottom line: I'll be online tomorrow morning before I leave and as much as possible over the next two weeks. But if you don't see me as much as usual, you know why. :)
Edited to add: forgot to say that there are lots of fundie relatives in my Dad's area (though thankfully Dad's not one), so I should have some Fundie Funnies to tell when I get back... :P

:hi: If I get stuck at the airport like I did when I went to Boston in August, I'm gonna whip out the ol' laptop and hop on DU! It kept me from going nuts when I was stuck at Logan Airport for an extra six hours!

I'm gonna keep my eyes closed through most of it and just grit my teeth... :P Forgot to mention that most of my relatives in Dad's area are fundies, so I should have some "those darn fundies!" stories to tell when I get back...

20. When we had fundies staying with has earlier in the summer... |
|
I almost walked downstairs one morning wearing a t-shirt that says "No one knows I'm a lesbian." I got halfway down the stairs, realized the shirt I had put on, and went back upstairs to change. While I'm sure hilarity would have ensued, it wasn't the sort of hilarious I needed on day 2 of their week stay.

Gee, you should've had some fun at their expense... But I totally understand. My fundie aunts and uncles and cousins and their offspring are just too whitebread for their own good. One of my male cousins is a fundie minister, and he and his wife were missionaries in New Guinea for about ten years. Every single time I turned around, I was getting a birth announcement for them. While they were in New Guinea, his poor wife gave birth to TWELVE children... :yoiks: :hurts: Twelve children in ten years means she had one after the other after the other... :( They lived in the jungle, and she did that like a pioneer wife... :scared: I guess they had nothing better to do with their time than reproduce since they didn't have TV or the mall... :yoiks:

 :hi: This particular wedding will definitely be the pits. :( My husband's cousin, who is only four years older than his niece, is going to Arizona and getting married quietly and sanely. They don't want a big bash, they don't want to cause a scene---they just want to get married without a lot of fuss and nonsense. I say she's got the right idea! :bounce:
