I got f***ed over royally for one comment I made in the middle of the night.

A lot of you know I'm not prejudiced against the Amish or anyone else. Why would I be? I don't even know any of them.

To be honest, I didn't think you were bigoted. But that particular description is awful, in my opinion. It seemed to me that people that are not Amish have an equally hard time recognizing and addressing mental health conditions. And the comments were pretty straightforward, so I don't think they were misinterpreted so much as your intentions didn't match the effect of the words sent out to the world.

You seem like a fun and fabulous person (and I like the Olive Garden too, damn it!). But the comment was kind of cringe-worthy.

I understand what you were trying to say but it wasn't the best way to say it. Besides, it's absurd to assume that the man wasn't recognized as a threat because of some lack of awareness on the part of the Amish - psychos and maniacs escape detection all the time, causing us all to scratch our heads in wonder and ponder how anyone could miss the signs that (for instance) Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris (the Columbine shooters) were seriously disturbed or that Ted Bundy was a sociopathic killer.
