According to the Faux Sprots announcers |

the Dodgers might as well pack up and go home because they just don't stand a chance against the superhuman Mets.
I look forward to shutting their goddamn fucking Freeper mouths.

As I said the other day, it's the East Coast Sports Mafia. A boon to gambling and sportscasting. And I am not a tinfoiler - some things just are what they are.
The Dodgers need to step it up though... their inability to score just plays into their inane propaganda on Faux.

Shit. Garciaparra's out.
But, yeah, you're right. We gotta score some fucking runs.

The pro-NYC bias has been a constant ever since I can remember. They think middle America eats this shit up. And they are especially horrible when it comes to the Spankees. :grr:
One thing I love about Dodgers announcer Vin Scully - he's not a "homer". He just calls the game - without the cheerleading. It is truly "fair and balanced". These national broadcasts should be even MORE neutral. It's like they don't care that there are TWO teams playing, and that maybe the fans of the non-NYC team are watching too?

Stone just said the loss of Beimel is "devastating" because he was "overpowering" in the seventh during the regular season. Beimel was effective; he wasn't overpowering.

Jeff Suppan in the WS against the Red Sox when everyone in the park except for him knew that the Red Sox were conceding the run when he was rounding third and he found a way to get thrown out by Manny anyway? Granted, this isn't anywhere close to that, but by what you're saying (whoch strikes me as a "walk a mile in his shoes before criticizing" argument), I could make the "argument" that unless we have served as president and have had access to that level of classified, we have no place criticizing the chimp-in-chief.
No offense intended and not trying to start an argument, of course. I just don't believe I have to occupy a post before I can level criticism of someone's handling of it.
Ant any rate, at least your boys are on the board now. It was fun watching that ball clear the fence. I detest, despise and loathe the fucking Mets. :)

I don't wanna argue it either. I just saw the runner go in front of Furcal and I thought, "Shit, how would I handle that?"
Then it occurred to me that that's a ridiculous thought because I haven't played short in a hardball game since I was about 12.

I don't have a dog in this overall playoff hunt as long as the Mets don't win. My fandom hierarchy goes like this, with some exceptions: Dodgers, NL West, Kollyforniya (except the A's), NL.
So, my lineup of the eight clubs in the DS looks like this:
Dodgers Padres Twins Cardinals Detroit Mets
A's
Jankees

54. Okay, you're a Dodgers fan so I understand the Yanks hatred, but |
|
why the A's? The 1988 series worked out pretty well for you - are you bitter about 1974, or is this just some sort of Kollyfornia thing that I have no hope of understanding?
I'm curious: if the Angels had made the postseason and the A's had as well, how would the lineup look?
For the record, my preferences are as follows:
Twins (no offense, but I spent a lot of time in Canada and Justin Morneau plays for them...like I alluded to earlier, without the Expos, I root against teams, not for any)
Dodgers (I'm on your side unless we get a 1965 rematch, bud)
Detroit (I like Leyland)
Padres (At this point we've entered "by default" country)
A's (not a fan of Frank Thomas)
Cardinals (I fully recognize that Pujols is a great player, but I'm tired of hearing about him and his 83-win team - in ANY other division they'd be sitting out by now, watching the games on TV and commenting on DU with us)
Yankees
Mets

In the late '70s and '80s, I had a girlfriend who was not only an A's fan but a knowledgable baseball fan, and my testosterone just couldn't handle that. (Or maybe it when she told me she'd fantasized about sleeping with Reggie Jackson.)
So the resentment built, and I never let go of it.

Seems funny that Fox would favor the Mets, although I am sure they think a "Subway Series" would be a huge ratings boost (back in 2000 it wasn't). Of all teams outside the Northeast, the Dodgers are probably the favorite among the MSM. I'm pulling for the AL Central teams in the playoffs, the Twins and Tigers are both in progressive cities despised by the media.
